As described
As specimens go, this will do the trick and is essentially as described and similar enough to the image. The description technically says 1 inch square, but it's an irregular shape since it's chipped or hammered (seemingly) and not cut to size. It looks more "natural" that way and I'm sure is far simpler and cheaper for the seller to source them that way. It seems to be big enough to demonstrate the colors and texture etc, but I won't claim to know a ton about geology or this particular specimen. I bought it to put in an acrylic display case as a "starter" for my niece's rock collection, along with a few others, and it fits the bill perfectly for that.

Okay specimen
This peridotite specimen is okay. It is useful for science classes or others interested in geology. However, it is not 1x1x1. While the one I received was one inch long, it is not one inch wide or thick. I think the product description is misleading. Otherwise, this is a nice specimen.

Photo size is deceptive, specimen is too small.
I need it for teaching Science Olympiad Geology. Even though it is stated that this is a 1" specimen, the photo is deceptive showing a 1"x3" piece. The 1x3 would actually be big enough to use to teach. A 1" x 1" by 1" - not really. Paying almost $8.00 for this size rock, not a gemstone, only useful for serious student study, doesn't make sense.
