I transport it folded 2x and its flat but bulky. **Q: How long does it take to self inflate?** A: Just used it this weekend while camping. You simply open both valves at the bottom and it inflates in a couple of minutes. Once inflated you close/tighten the valves. Deflating can be a little more challenging since opening the valves technically inflates it. You have to roll and squeeze the air out, then tighten the valves before they start inflating again. **Q: Would a dog's nails puncture this mattress?** A: Its pretty thick. . It feels significantly thicker than a standard air mattress. I would say it is unlikely to be punctured by an animal. Plus its only around an inch thick so any blanket will easily cover it completely leaving little to nothing exposed for paws.
