Compact and portable, it folds easily for transport, making it ideal for professional and hobbyist knitters seeking a durable, elegant, and highly functional yarn winding tool. ## Description This Medium size yarn swift is made of solid wood and finished by extra fine sanding (no toxic varnish fume). The Medium size can hold skeins up to 6-ft in circumference. It spins smoothly and makes yarn winding a fun job. The clamp-on base allows it to be firmly fixed at the edges of tables, chairs, benches, or any other convenient locations. It fits edges up to 1 3/4 Inch thick. The craftsmanship on this yarn swift is superior. We avoid wood pieces with scars or blemishes so that our yarn swifts are less vulnerable to breakage and more appealing aesthetically. The ends of metal tying wires are hidden into holes and will never hurt your hands or the yarn. ## Features - Premium Quality - Made of Finely Finished Birch - Medium Size - Spins Smoothly - Holds up to a 6' Circumference Skein ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B000IG1I8O | | Best Sellers Rank | #62,189 in Arts, Crafts & Sewing ( See Top 100 in Arts, Crafts & Sewing ) #1,217 in Yarn | | Brand Name | Stanwood Needlecraft | | Canopy Material | Wood | | Color | Brown | | Customer Reviews | 4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars (914) | | Frame Material | Wood | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00843719009014 | | Handle Material | Wood | | Included Components | Clamp | | Indoor Outdoor Usage | Indoor | | Item Dimensions W x H | 3.25"W x 3.25"H | | Item Shape | Hands | | Item Weight | 2 pounds | | Manufacturer | Stanwood Needlecraft | | Material | birch | | Model Name | Modern | | Model Number | YW-1 | | Opening Mechanism | Manual Lift | | Part Number | YW-1 | | Pattern | Solid | | Product Care Instructions | General Care | | Recommended Uses For Product | Needlecraft | | Shaft Material | Wood | | Size | 6 inch | | Special Features | Wooden Construction, Traditional Style, Medium Size | | Specific Uses For Product | Needlecraft | | Style | Modern | | Target Audience | Adult | | UPC | 843719009014 | | Umbrella Tilt Mechanism | Manual Tilt | | Unit Count | 1 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Stanwood Needlecraft - **Color:** Brown - **Frame Material:** Wood - **Handle Material:** Wood - **Recommended Uses For Product:** Needlecraft - **Shaft Material:** Wood - **Shape:** Hands - **Special Feature:** Wooden Construction, Traditional Style, Medium Size - **Specific Uses For Product:** Needlecraft - **Target Audience:** Adult ## Images ![Stanwood Needlecraft Wooden Umbrella Swift - Medium - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/8152nLkITOL.jpg) ![Stanwood Needlecraft Wooden Umbrella Swift - Medium - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41vI11DbH1L.jpg) ![Stanwood Needlecraft Wooden Umbrella Swift - Medium - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41qw3gtFpML.jpg) ![Stanwood Needlecraft Wooden Umbrella Swift - Medium - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41w00+of6SL.jpg) ![Stanwood Needlecraft Wooden Umbrella Swift - Medium - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41rvT8P3SgL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: I've never used a swift winder. can you use it to wind yarn without the other kind of winder?** A: You can use this swift without the ball winder, but you will have to wind the yarn into a ball with your hands. If you do not mind that, then that's all you need. I personally find it much easier with both. But,again, not necessary. Good luck! **Q: What kind of wood is this made out of?** A: Not sure. My husband thinks either maple or birch. It does not appear to be pine. I will go with the Beech wood. I am happy with it. Well made. Good luck! **Q: Do you prefer Starwood’s swift over the Knitters Pride one?** A: Sorry, I don’t have Knitters Pride but I probably made over a 100 balls just before COVID, preparing for a big group project, and Starwood worked like a charm. **Q: Does this swift require assembly?** A: Not really, it requires only minimal assembly. ## Frequently Bought Together - Stanwood Needlecraft Umbrella Swift Yarn Winder, Wood, Medium - Patty Lyons' Knitting Bag Of Tricks: Sanity saving tips for better knitting --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/1966044-stanwood-needlecraft-wooden-umbrella-swift-medium](https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/1966044-stanwood-needlecraft-wooden-umbrella-swift-medium) --- *Product available on Desertcart Panama* *Store origin: PA* *Last updated: 2026-10-19*
