I had sheared off a 5/16" X 3" lag bolt in a pressure treated 4"x4". I drilled a 1/8" hole about 1" into the bolt and then used pliers to thread the extractor on. It worked. It was easy.Cons: Several of the product pictures show a handle so I was expecting this to include the handle. That would work a lot better than pliers. I was able to remove it with this bit. It worked great for $7. Put it on my drill and back the bolt out. It was basically fused in the hole because the treads were all stripped when I got it out.
