Good purchase. Better alternative than others.
I shopped around before I bought this bar and so far I'm glad I bought it. I wanted a removable one so I didn't have to drill into the sides of the door frame. My problem was that the door I wanted to mount it to was right up against a side wall to the house. Pullup bars like the Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar Grip the back of the top of the door and the front sides of the door. After measuring my doorway, I would have had to make modifications. The only other option was the kind that wedge into the door frame like JFit Deluxe Doorway Pull-Up Bar . When I was shopping around, the latter and the Perfect Pullup bar were about the same price. Installation was pretty simple. You just drill the holes with the given template. After that you screw in the brackets. I used a cordless drill instead of the attached screwdriver. The top brackets are labeled so you put them on the right sides. The bar attaches to the sides and screws in. Then you slide the two pieces together and hang up your bar. After you have it where you want it, you tighten down the top set screw with the attached hex key. I had a hard time because I didn't have the right size drill bit and went one size smaller. Plus I was screwing into a wooden door frame that was attached to concrete walls. In a wood frame house it would go in real easy. One of the reasons I bought this one was because it allows for different workouts. I do pullups and then I do the intermediate pullups, which is more of a row. There's no switching heights or removing any hardware. You just slide it up and pull it out of the top brackets. This thing is really sturdy. I don't know if it's because it's mounted to concrete walls or if that's how it was designed. I know it feels a lot sturdier than the iron gym type and I feel a lot safer than if I had a wedge type. I had to adjust the grips to a position that felt comfortable. I wanted the part where the Velcro attaches to be right under my finger tips. Not really a big deal, just a comfort thing. So far I'm glad I purchased it. I use it to hang my resistance bands and jump rope and slide them to the side of the door and they aren't in the way at all. I also use it as an anchor for resistance band exercises. I had questions as to how this installed and how it actually worked. All the pictures I found showed it either all the way at the top or in the middle. I thought there were just different installation options. I posted some pictures so people could see what it looks like installed. If you have any questions feel free to comment.

Locking! Very sturdy, great price - UPDATE!!
————- 04.10.2022 update still going strong. I have given this as a gift to friends who still use it. for $20 (what I spent), this is the cheapest workout tool I use daily. I moved and it was also nice to only have some small holes in the door frame instead of the whole frame being broken apart like the pressure based pullup bars. I haven't seen any other company create a competing design.. this is the best & should really disrupt the pull-up industry. love it. ————- 7.2018 Update I’ve been using this bar for about a year and updated my review to 5/5. This bar is incredible. The fact that I can unhook it and do angled pull ups (great for my wife), is amazing. I bought an added connection set from the company and locked the bottom part of the bar (when you unlook it and let it swing), so my kids can use it and it won’t swing back and forth now. Simple fix, and makes it much safer, so kids can’t get their fingers caught when it swings, it hasn’t happened but it could. If you want to buy a pull up bar, this is a no brainer, and truly a “perfect” solution. I only wish this was the top list on amazon For some reason you can’t buy from amazon, but you can buy directly from their website. I’ve referred about 7 people there when they happen to see the bar in my office doorway. Buy it now! ————- Original review: I set it up today to replace a non-locking bar that ruined my door frame. This is much sturdier & easier to use. This is more complicated to setup, and i’m nervous about the kids getting their fingers caught due to the moving parts. Excellent instructions, parts, screws, etc. This is my 3rd attempt to find one and this is the best easily. Overall: great unit. I’m going to buy one for a friend as well.

Good for Entry Level
Do consider your fitness goals & needs before buying any piece of equipment and in this case pull up bar. I wanted a bar to use for basic strict pull ups and to use with gymnastic rings. I'm not at a point where I'm trying to do kipping or muscle ups. Therefore this bar works fine for my goals. I do think is a good entry level pull up bar that gets the job done. I would recommend to anyone wanting an inexpensive but sturdy piece of equipment. Pros: -Easy to install and fits a wide range of doorways -Works well with gymnastic rings for suspension type of training -Feels sturdy when used by me or husband. -Rubber/foam grips make bar comfortable to use. Cons: -Slight rattling when in pull up position (doesn't really bother me or husband). When in rowing position, it's much more rattly and it pushes right against door frame which may cause damage to the wood. For these 2 reasons, we don't use this feature (not a big deal to us). -We have the bar mounted on a standard door frame, which feels a bit cramped to my tall husband (he is 6"4'). This is not a deal breaker though since it still gets the job done.

About a 2 hour installation that acts as a good warmup for when the bar is functional.
I wasn't expecting it to work for my door, because I had a very narrow trim and I've tried previous products that just didn't fit. However, I was able to adjust my trim slightly and properly install the pullup bar whereas I wasn't for the others. This might in fact be the perfect pullup bar given the sheer number of doors this beast of steel could be used on. Also, something most people won't care about, but I do, It looks really good. The design is sleek and minimalist while hanging on your doorframe and gives it a certain je ne sais quoi that 99% of pullup bars don't have. It feels like a 100+ dollar product, genuinely. It's good looking, sturdy, and easy(enough) to install. Speaking of the installation, it's a bit of hassle, but a rewarding one. The instructions are super simple and everything is very straight forward, but the act of assembling a pullup bar as well as drilling it into your doorframe is fairly tedious. Regardless, I very much recommend this product and I never write reviews for amazon products, so me writing this is a testament to my feelings towards it. Worth your money.

excellent
I bought this for my kid to practice and exercise. He loves it. He's been using it almost every day and within a short period of time made some cute little muscles. He also likes to hang with head down and do pull-ups this way, helps him have nice abs. On top of it - kids love to climb, so its appealing exercise item for them. I noticed it also stimulates his learning ability, so its great to have it on site at home, so he can use it at any time and not be obstacle to only go to the park to climb and exercise. We rarely use the down position as we don't know what exercise to do that way, I primarily bought it for the kid to hang downwards. It was easy to install, but actually if you want to remove out the way its not that easy. Also the cushion pads (2 black on the sides) keep sliding with time and exercise toward the middle.

Great product - works well and is safe
After looking at several styles and types, bought this one because it has two heights. The versatility is nice as youth and adults can use it. Installation took about and hour, mostly because I hadn't installed anything like this before. Instructions were really good, easy to understand and follow. We've had it for a few months now and we still use it. It shows no sign of ripping out of the doorframe-very safe. Two small complaints: the bars don't stay in place. They move apart (not a lot but just enough to cause me fits when I try to hook it up on the top rung). I probably can fix this but just haven't taken the time. The other complaint is it's hard to shut the door. So before you drill, come out away from the room (i.e. Don't center it) a few millimeters so your door shuts easily. It's not a huge deal but I do with the door shut easier.

The best doorway pull up bar EVER
I had one of these when I was about 16 years old and it's STILL at my parents house and still useable 10+ years later. I had one of the over-the-door pull up bars at my last apartment but I was always worried I would break the door frame or fall on my back really hard since I like to raise my legs while I'm doing pullups to work some abs at the same time. I never had that concern with the perfect pullup. At my new place, the doors are wider so I felt even less safe with the bars that just hang on the door frame. The perfect pullup is a much safer option for wide doors The perfect pulI I had as a kid was a little different but still very similar. I had the one that was all black and the entire bar had a cushion over it. It also had a pair of twisting hooks that you could twist while doing pullups. I broke one of them once and fell pretty bad (didn't hurt myself but it definitely didn't feel good.) So it's probably a good idea that they don't include it anymore. I posted a video of myself doing pullups on this bar and I weigh about 195. The booklet that came with this bar says the max weight is 220lbs. I have no clue how much the weight limit on the previous model was but when I was younger I used to add 50 lbs to a chain while working out. I always weighed between 185-195 so I feel confident that this bar won't break while I'm using it.

A high-performing bargain, once installed
Just finished installing it. The directions were--mostly okay. We were unsure how to orient the side brackets (they're slightly asymmetrical)--it didn't seem to make much difference. It's easier to attach the bar once you've worked the swing arms over the knobs on the side bracket. Drilling out the top-most screw hole was awful. Because the drill body was too wide and the hole too close to the top. Overall, installing the apparatus was...a challenge. A minor asymmetry in the door jam construction was part of the problem. But it's up now, and it's solid and sturdy, and it works as advertised: two positions, easy to flip from one to the other. And it cost $150 or so less than many competitors. The design is pure minimalist genius. Tools are included--although, as I said, drilling close to the top of the doorway was hard. Congratulations to the company on rethinking a product from scratch.

Excelente barra

Good enough for us
Don’t use very often but was easy to install and use. We have a variety of ages and heights so not only good for an adult to use at multiple levels but my children can use it also. Only issue is the cushion pads are not stationary anymore making grip annoying.
