Picasso was arguably the most influential artist of the 20th century. Over the course of a career that spanned seven decades - and included thousands of paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings, prints, and tapestries -his work continued to evolve in response to his own life and to events in the world around him. This elegant introduction to Picasso offers lively artistic and biographical commentary, as well as beautiful reproductions of key works. Readers will discover why Picasso's work is often categorised by ''periods'' and his masterful achievements in the realms of neoclassicism, surrealism, and sculpture - in short, how his tremendous body of work reflected the development of modern art in the 20th century. Review: Great - Great used book as described. Review: Interesting book - I like Picasso in general the book is very good quality however small size.

interesting book - tracking picasso's life story with the evolution of his art
I bought this in preparation for a day trip to Malaga where I went to the Picasso museum. I am no expert in art so I wanted to get some understanding before I visited the gallery. The book talked through Picasso's (very interesting!) life and showed how it influenced the different periods in his painting. It is a very well written book. I think I got more out of the museum visit as a result of reading the book.

Disappointing
I expected more. Not enough artwork shown and all only very famous. Good introductory book

Disappointing, small and not much content.
Size wise, its small, roughly about 2/3 of an A4. Its about 100 pages but a lot of white. Ok its a short version of his history and more can be found from other sources. However, I would imagine that if anyone was buying a book on arguably the most important artist of the 20th century a few more examples of his works would be expected. Some of his most famous and most popular are not even mentioned sadly. Obviously an indepth works it was never expected to be even so was I wrong to expect better?

Good Book
Great book, I would of preferred pictures of his lesser known paintings personally but it’s still great.
