Vornado MD1-0002 Replacement Humidifier Wick (2-Pack),White

I bought a pair of Vornado humidifiers MANY years ago. Every year I get new wicks for them because our well water is full of calciuml After a winter's heating season, the wicks are hard and can't be used any more. The vornado hunidifier makes our lives MUCH easier in the winter, and it provides the most cost effective way to reduce the terrivle dryness in the house during the winter.

I own the Vornado Evap3 Whole Room Evaporative Humidifier and periodically I like to get replacement filters. I only use the humidifier during the heating seasons once the house dries out and the heating cycles become regular enough to dry out the air. The filters are effective and easy to replace and require just a few minutes to swap. Ideally it is best to wait for them to be dry so I prefer to do this at the beginning of the season or after the unit has been off for a prolonged time. I've tried an antibacterial solution additive for the water but if you just use the humidifier for one season I suspect it is better to just replace the filters as they are fairly inexpensive. The Evap3 intake vents bring in a fair amount of dust and other particles and you can see the buildup on the sides of the filters. The edges of the filters tend to fray slightly and small pieces can fall off leading to a slight cleanup. Like many filters I fear the day they will stop making them and I'll have to turn to a different unit. Overall, it's a good investment to keep the unit running clean and providing a healthy mist.

I love these filters. I stock up when they are on sale...like right now. I have two of the evap 3 machines. Have had them for five years. The water I put into my machines is that I use water from my Brita container...poured into 1 gallon jugs (way cheaper than gallons of distilled water). Then I add a capful of the Best Air bacteriostatic into the Brita water jugs. Every day...I just flip the filters so the filters are rotated to keep moisture on them. And I can use the filters for about 2 1/2 months. Works for me. Hope this is helpful.

Always get these real Vornado brand wicks. These actually fit perfectly. The cheap knock off does not. Worth a little extra to pay for the correct fit. I have used both to compare. Real life experience...

I bought a Vornado Humidifier and a spare pack of Wick Filters. When one set of wicks gets crusted, I use the second set and clean the dirty one with vinegar. Works perfectly for me.
