Why pay up?
I am usually a “motorcraft” kind of guy. But for this price I figured it’s worth a try.I almost ordered both pumps just to see where the double and triple price quality is. But I did not. So Gates will do for this round. I can not speak of the longevity of this product either. I wish those who have over 100k miles on a Gates would give updates on here. Instead of only the ones that failed complaining. I’m sure there are many more making it well over 100k than the ones who failed. Also Gates has videos and literature stating how not to use sealant on the gasket. How many that failed will admit they added sealant to the gasket? Upon inspection the pump seems to look fine to me. Mostly the bearing up front. Since it holds so much weight and tension from fan and pulley. Machining seems fine. Not sure which impeller metal is best. But galvanized should be fine. I tried to get photos of the bearing and internal side where shaft is. Also you can see from my photos that the gasket provided stays in place very well with out any holding it. Also you can see it came with the 90 elbow for earlier 7.3 engines. There’s a o ring for the lower connectors. Wether your is straight or curved. A thermostat gasket, all though my stat had the gasket attached. While I have it all off I ordered a billet thermostat housing. I bought a motorcraft stamped steel one two years ago when I did hoses, and it’s rusted already. The one I got is hiwow. I found it on amazon. I seems nice enough. Has 3 color options and much cheaper than others with names printed on them. I hope this review and pics are helpful to someone. I know I read and read forever trying to decide which pump. Even though I can afford a more expensive one I’m getting wiser or dumber as I age. I will update this if I ever have an issue. And my truck only gets 8-10k a year on it. So it’ll be a very long time before I can attest to its longevity. But I do like updating amazon reviews when I come across them here and there. We will see.... Update 5/11/20- still working fine. No issues. Prob less than 4K miles. No leaks. Truck stays cool. About to go through a summer here in the desert. If I remember I’ll do an update afterwards. 11/04/20- Almost been a year. No problems. Made it through summer fine. Thermostat never read hot at all. Prob only around 5-6k on it though. 7/1/21- still works great so far. 10/25/22- still working great. Made it through another Vegas summer. 01-2023 sold truck. Pump was fine still. Prob ending up putting 15k ish on it.

Would buy again 🤷🏼♂️
I installed this pump today and it seems to be pretty good quality. Everything was included and the new outlet tube is better than factory. However the outlet tube is larger than the factory pump. So the factory hose will not work. You will need Part # 22434 Gates hose for the lower hose. 6 month review. It’s leaking 😤. I don’t know if a seal issue or a pump housing issue. The pump has been great up until now. We just went on a trip pulling our camper through the NC mountains and came home With a leak. Now I purchased the optional warranty with it through Assurant and they refunded the money the next day. That was amazing. Now I’m torn do I order another gates or a Different brand?

Great water pump
This water pump is just as good as Motocraft and a fraction of the cost. Gates is a very good and trusted name (usually made in the US or Canada) and this part was easily installed and has worked flawlessly. The hardest part of the water pump job was removing the fan, this part was a perfect fit and installed in under 10 min on my '99 7.3 Powerstroke. I installed mine about 2 months ago now and I have put about 2K miles on it. 500 miles of that was pulling a 19K lb horse trailer. The water pump has performed flawlessly and I have full faith in my truck again.

Great water pump and my opinion!
First off I am not saying anything bad about this water pump or seller great people to do business with. It's my 3rd water pump for different cars will not buy anything else.Very nice water pump! I put it on my truck 4 times to make sure it wasn't something I was doing! Last time I took it to a shop and they told me it wasn't laying flat ! I asked him if it could be my motor and he told me that he checked it and it wasn't the problem! I will not give this water pump a bad review because it is a great pump and a lot of different things could make this happen! I wrote this just because if someone else is having problems sealing check water pump make sure it's level! To bad it took me passed me return date but with cancer and putting it on so many times it took a little more times! Lol but I get the money I will order another from this company! Thank you all and good luck!!

Great pump, gaskets all included, straight forward installation. Be sure to clean your faces well on engine block, and I used high temp red silicone as well. Buy a thermostat housing when buying this pump and save yourself some hasstle with installation. Thank you gates

Appeara to be good quality. Easy to install. Hardest part of the project is getting access to the pump.

Pump is performing as expected. Seals could have been more robust.
