I've tried many thermal 'cups' over the years and all have given coffee a bitter 'plastic' taste.** A: Hi I only use my hydro therm cup for Coffee & Hot Chocolate - the flask itself has never changed to taste to me that is (but I know what you mean about ‘some’ cups doing that) The lid comes apart in 3 sections of black plastic there is also an orangey red softer ring - if ever I’ve used my cup I tend to dismantle and wash all these sections in bubbly water and a sponge - this helps with taste/smells especially the chocolate tainting the coffee etc.. I love this cup and have tried many. The handle is big plus !!! And if you’re only using it for coffee then you can get away with a rinse but I would always wash all sections of the lid at least once a week!! I notice they sell spare lids which I will be treating myself to for my Chocolate days! as the powdered Chocolate gets itself caught in between the lid parts xx But it’s easily removed x Good luck 🤞 there is No plastic taste!! **Q: Can the lid be turned to open with one hand (i.e. when carrying something in the other hand)?** A: No it can’t.
