Review: Super Easy to Fly - When I opened the packaging, the first thing I noticed was the high quality. I wanted to get flying as soon as possible, so I started charging the batteries and the controller right away. However, I didn't bother to check the battery level of my phone, so I ended up having to wait for that to charge after everything else was already good to go. BTW, the charging hub will accommodate three batteries, but will only charge one at a time. I had never spent more than $50 for a drone before, so I was a bit nervous about flying this the first time. I took it to an open field, set everything up, hit the "takeoff" button, and it just hovered in place a few feet off the ground. I played around with the controls and found that when you release the joystick, the drone will stop in place - no drifting. After flying it around for a while, I hit the RTH button and it came back and landed in the same spot and orientation that it took off from. I have not tested RTH with obstacles in the way yet, so I don't know how this will work. The camera quality is great! So far, I have only tested 4K 60fps video, but it smooth and the gimbal does a good job keeping the camera straight and level when adjusting the drone direction. The collision detection also works well. Anytime I fly anywhere near the house, it slows down, then stops before hitting anything. It also worked with a chain link fence. I just got the drone yesterday, so these are just my first thoughts. The Air 2 is really fun and easy to fly. I would highly recommend this to a first time drone buyer that wants next level features.
Review: Best bang for the buck and with great imaging - This is my first drone, and boy is it worth it. I got the Fly More package, and if you add it all up, that extra $189 gets you something like $420 in extras. I preordered it and received it around May 16. There are other more expensive options out there, but I've had it now for three months, and I've yet to crash it even though it has only forward, reverse, and downward vision. I don't do things that I would need upwards vision, and side vision would be nice, but I'm happy with my decision and got the most bang for the buck here. As an amateur photographer, I'm super picky about image quality and lens issues. I can't believe the quality and sharpness of the photos and videos, and it's a fixed focus camera. It beats out most consumer cameras I've seen, although without any zoom. The 180 degree panorama (see attached) is my current favorite; I hope the image I attach retains some of the pop it has in full resolution. This image is straight off the drone as it was taken. This particular panorama mode takes 21 photographs and stitches them together to 8192x3290 pixels. DJI continues to add features with updates, so check with them periodically to see if something you want has been released yet. I've only flown it about 2200 feet away, even though it's rated for far greater distance (10 Km, or 6-ish miles). However, I'm a bit nervous about losing it if I go that far, even though it has an automatic return if it can't connect to the controller. I've flown it in the badlands of the Anza Borrego desert in 110 degree heat, and that was really fun standing at the precipice and flying down into that valley. I've yet to have any gimbal problems or overheating in direct sun, which was a concern. It's also amazing to see how well it deals with wind (it's rated to handle up to ~23 mph wind). The videos are rock solid with that awesome gimbal, even when the drone is clearly compensating for wind--if it's low and nearby, you can see it tilting and moving against the wind. Amazing technology. The real time image and video transmission has been flawless, it alerts me if I'm approaching a geo-fenced area like a local Marine base or an airport (even a small local air strip), it alerts if there is manned aircraft nearby, it can track a person in some of the video modes and in hyperlapse, I can go on and on. It is fun and impressive. I've even had it flying at its top rated speed of 42 mph. One thing I would suggest is buying the custom hard case from Nanuk. Their cases rival Pelican and Storm cases, and they make one (linked here ) just for the Fly More combo. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any extra room for even one additional accessory, but it's still a great value. ** Update 8/13/2020 ** This weekend I got bold and flew the drone over a mile away while sitting inside my truck with closed doors, and without any communication issues. DJI also updated the firmware this week adding several features, including 4K hyperlapse, up to 4x digital zoom, and a safe flying mode that disables side-to-side movements since it doesn't have obstacle sensors on the sides. Digital zoom isn't usually that great unless you're Google, but it might be a surprise if it proves as good as the rest of its imaging. Even if not, you never know when it might be handy.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is a license needed to fly this drone?**
A: Well I don't have a license and I have not registered mine. I do however keep it under 400 feet. Now the exception to this is as long as you stay within 400 feet of a building or whatever object you can legally fly 400 feet above the building or object. So if the building is 400 feet tall then you can fly up to 800 feet as long as you are within 400 feet of the object.

**Q: Is the drone made in China? I don't want them spying on me**
A: Yes made in China. Easy way to get around the spying thing if you are worried about it. Whatever device you are using for an fpv display ,never hook that unit to the internet and or cell service. Another way is to use a third party app like Litchi for your camera view.

**Q: Does this have a follow me mode?**
A: Mavic Air 2 supports FocusTrack, we could easily track subjects such as vehicles, boats and people. It includes Active Track 3.0, Spotlight 2.0, and Point of Interest 3.0, allowing you to unleash your creativity.
Active Track 3.0 includes Trace mode (the aircraft tracks the subject at a constant distance) and Parallel mode (the aircraft tracks the subject at a constant angle and distance from the side).
Point of Interest 3.0: the aircraft tracks the subject in a circle based on the radius and flight speed that is set.
Spotlight 2.0: we could fly freely while the camera remains locked on the subject with this convenient mode.

**Q: Does this come with a charger for the battery?**
A: Yes. The fly more combo also includes a 4 way charger attachment so that it can hold 4 batteries and charge each one, one at a time. It’s convenient if you are (for instance) setting all batteries on charge overnight. You don’t have to change out each battery. It does it for you. It’s a pretty convenient option to have, especially if you’re too busy to manage batteries while working.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best new Prosumer/beginner drone on the market!
*by A***R on May 26, 2020*

I was a little surprised to see the Mavic 2 hit the market given the newly released Mavic Mini but I was excited none the less. This is another massive amount of technology packed into a tiny flying robot from DJI. I never ceases to amazes me at how DJI is able to build a camera that rivals most hand held prosumer cameras at a fraction of the price… did I mention that camera also fly’s autonomously with machine vision and obstacle avoidance?? Needless to say the Mavic Air 2 with the Fly More Combo is an INSANE deal at $988. This Fly more combo is pretty sweet and has everything the older Mavic kits have but with a few extra goodies. I was really excited to see the Small ND kit with case in this combo. The Kit comes with a ND16, ND64, ND256 (4, 6 &8 Stops) This is such an essential piece of kit for making cinematic videos and being able to manipulate your photos or time lapses in creative ways. The new super slim 3 bay charger hub its extremely nice and the Mavic battery to USB hub is always a nice thing piece to have it the bag when you need to top off your controller or cell phone when out in the field. One major change to this new edition to the Mavic line is the new controller and I absolutely LOVE it. I never liked the old Mavic controller. It was nice and compact but the usability of it was frustrating at best. The new controller is a bit larger but it feels great in the hands and the phone mount is easy to use and pain free. The phone mount also incorporates the antennas so you no longer have to worry about folding them our or breaking them. Let’s talk about the camera. First and foremost… 4k 60FPS is such a big deal!!! Most prosumer cameras cannot do 4K 60FPS and to have the ability to do 4K slow motion from a drone is so clutch when trying to make creative videos. This new 1/2” quad bayer sensor is really nice and performs really well against the Mavic Pro 2’s 1” sensor. The 1/2” Quad Bayer Sensor allows for HDR (High Dynamic Range) video which blends multiple exposures in one frame giving really nice detail and dynamic range for such a small sensor. I would say this camera almost gives a better image out of the box than the PRO. Even though the AIR 2 sensor is smaller you are able to take 48mp stills with is over twice the size of the PRO’s 20mp stills. This feature is huge if you are primarily a stills shooter of focus on hyper lapse filming. Another huge upgrade for hyper lapse shooters is the ability to output 8K hyper-lapses. This is honestly one of the most exciting features as this is how my Mavic sees most of its use. In flight this Mavic performs just like its Pro counterpart if not a bit better given its lighter all up weight. The downward facing vision sensors give great low altitude position hold and the forward and rear facing obstacle avoidance sensors are such an important for beginner to intermediate flyers. I always love to have these sensors for using obstacle avoidance during RTH if ever needed. The flight time is excellent with 29-34 minutes giving your flying style and flying conditions. The Mavic Air 2 sees a huge upgrade in tide transmission system as well as intelligent features with Occusync 3.0 and Active Track, Spotlight & POI 3.0. Occusync 3.0 is boasting a massive 10KM range, this is much further than most pilots would ever need but knowing you have such robust signal gives you piece of mind. Overall this drone is by far the best value on the market and it comes out of the box ready to satisfy a specific need for every level of drone pilot/ photographer or film maker. This will now be my new recommendation for anyone that asks me that question “ Yo. What drone should I buy?”
