Review: Great product for SAS 4.0 drives. - Works great for me after tech support figured out that the enterprise SAS drives I had would not start up due to a 3.3V signal applied to the PWDIS pin. The fix was to use a molex to SATA power cable that doesn't include a 3.3V power source. I currently have a number of SAS 4.0 drives working correctly at the max speed of 22.5Gb. I could have gone for one of the denser models (such as the 16 bay), but it would be pointless with the installed SAS 9300-8I HBA. The dual SFF-8643 cabling really shines in this confined rack build. Using 8x 4TB SSDs and unRAID ZFS pool. I debated TrueNAS, but coming from previous unRAID systems, and having 3x spinning drives in this build, frankly the complexity (and learning curve) of TrueNAS just didn't seem worth it to me.
