Does the mute button mute the computer's input audio signal or does it just mute the microphone itself from sending audio to the computer?

The button does NOT mute audio input on your PC! The button turns on/off the mic's integrated sound card to bypass your PC's sound card. With the button off, the mic is still active and listening through your PC's sound card. With the button on (LED is red), the mic's input signal is boosted and clarity is theoretically improved. There is no way to mute the mic without disabling ALL of your PC's audio input devices, thereby muting all input signals to your PC.
