Do you want this light?
First off, the seller/manufacturer is straight up great. Honoring their warranty is integral to a great product. I’ll elaborate in a bit. Second, if you are looking for a bright led light for your aquarium, this is it. And fully customizable with an auto daylight/moonlight setting with digital readout default. Its awesome. A few points: I read reviews that complain about heat. Apparently these folks were born never have experienced incandescent bulbs. These were 120-250 degrees in your ceiling or on your desk. And yes, in our aquarium hoods back in the day. Hot as F. If you complain about the heat of this light, you may want to take up badminton or knitting. Manuf states 120F or below is Aok. Another point, the instructions. If you cant understand them, change your name to Billy Madison and go back to kindergarten. They are pretty clear. Read, follow directions, Push buttons... simple. Failure. I have several of these lights. One failed a few months in. It couldn’t keep the time and would reset constantly. In this case, I contacted the seller and they took care of it. That is the best. I hope these lights last a long time and I will update this review accordingly. So far A+ rating.

This tank light is one to have!!!!
I really like this fish tank light so much I bought two and plan on buying another one and even persuaded a friend to buy on and he absolutely love it! One size is for the 10 gallon tank and the tank below in the pics is a 5.5 gallon rimless tank. Keep in mind I had these lights for nearly a year before posting this review to make sure they're good and so far they are. My friend bought one for his 20 long tank and he fricking loves it! The cool features are the timers and how it fades into moonlight when programmed. Buy one you won't regret it! Updated pics since I rearranged and moved the tanks around. The lights are still running great!

A lot of features
Very surprised so far. I pulled an old 10 gallon tank out of storage, cleaned it and decided to build a small betta/plant tank to fit a spot in my house. Bought this because the hood on the old tank was just...old...and I wanted something that was more plant friendly. The plants seem to be doing well after a month. I love how this is pretty much automatic. It slowly comes on in the morning, then cycles down to a lower light color in the evening and has a "assorted" mode which is awesome. FYI, the bright white does heat up the unit, however every other color is cool to the touch, no matter how bright you have it. I would recommend wiping/cleaning the underside of the hood a couple of times a week. What I've noticed so far is "splash" of the water from the filtration will attach to underside and might take more of a "elbow grease type" cleaning if left alone for a couple of months. I don't trust the "water proof" claim. I have noticed a few beads of water inside the unit while cleaning. No, I haven't placed mine in water, it came from the filtration bubbles. Maybe mine wasn't sealed correctly? Overall, very pleased with the item and if I rebuild my later tank, I would look into buying another one for that size.

Exceptional Quality and Easy To Use
If you you’re on the edge about this light I can soundly affirm you that this light is worth every cent. It was packaged very well and the light seems to be of great quality. I personally really like how the operating manual and controls are quite simple and easy to use. All you have to do is set your local time and you’re already set up pretty well. And if you feel like you want to do some fine adjustments then that’s just as easy. After two or three days I had mine dialed in right where I wanted it. I read a couple reviews were people say this light get extremely hot but after purchasing it for myself I found they were being extremely over dramatic. A desk lamp gets hot, this light (at full brightness mind you) only gets warm. You could easily hold onto this light with your bare hands. Heat dissipation is not an issue. For the quality, amount of adjustment, ease of setup, brightness, and hands free lighting I highly recommend this light. So far I’ve found no qualms to it.

Quality Made, Perfect for Plants
I love these lights. I run them on multiple tanks. My plants grow out of control in all of them. It is adjustable. You can set the on off times and not worry about it. This light pretty much provides every feature you need. It is also water resisitant. I ha w dropped them in my tanks multiple times with no problems.

Bleh, not great, could be worse. But it's only the price that makes it worth buying.
I will start with the positives. The price is one of the best. The brightness is great, caveat, as long as you have a shallower tank. The dimensions are OK, fairly thin and narrow. Now the negatives. The size is extremely misleading. It states for tanks 18 to 24 inches yet the actual lighting part is only 12.5 inches and lopsided in the fixture (see pics). There is about an inch at one end and almost 2.5 inches at the other end of the fixture, which already is only 16" long. So it doesn't have the lighting coverage that you would expect. The light also doesn't have much penetrating depth. So while for shallow tanks it's great as the depth increases the lighting ability falls off fast. So overall the lighting isn't bad but not any better than the fluorescent shoplight I replaced with this light. Which had coverage from end to end and no huge spaces at either end of the fixture, costing way less. The LED display which is used to control the light is subpar. The control readout is extremely hard to see and even in the best of positions is barely acceptable. It is usually unreadable (see Pic). The lighting control program also doesn't seem to be as good as advertised. All my four lights have occasionally lost their settings. They either fail to come on, go off or fail to switch properly from day to night. Which leaves me having to unplug them and plug them back in, then reset the time. The touch sensitive buttons controlling the clock could be the problem as even breathing on them strongly could trigger a change. Be very careful when working on your tank or adding fish, heck, be careful even feeding them as the slightest brush of the control will change the lighting. Lastly, and I am unsure how to judge this yet, is the fixture's resistance to water. It is definitely not water proof. I accidentally knocked one end of the light into the tank. Although I almost immediately picked it back out there was already a lot of water in the fixture. I drained it out and it is currently working fine. Only time will tell if that amount of water was trouble. I also was lucky that I didn't drop the end with the power cord and electronics into the water. OK let's see here. Light not bad but far from the best. Lighting area deceptive and way smaller than expected from description. Control readout is poor at best. Controlling function is a hit or miss, frequently loosing it's setting and needing to be unplugged, plugged back in and reset. Not waterproof. Seems that it's only the price, and the promise of controlling the light like natures lighting that makes this light barely worth getting. I know personally if I was doing this over these wouldn't be the ones I bought.

Amazing light programable light! My plants love it!
Love this light! Just started a new 10 gallon planted tank and wanted a light that I didn’t need a timer for, I have bought the higher priced programable lights in the past only to feel my money could have went to more things if I just got a light and a timer. I was pleased when I seen hygger has a programable light that doesn’t break the bank. I am very pleased I went with this light, I use the DIY planted setting which I used their YouTube video to learn how to do because I’m a more visual learner than comprehensive learner. The picture of the tank is showing the light in “sunrise” setting so light is only at 30% power and moves up gradually until noon when it hits 100% power for 4 solid hours and then power goes back down gradually for “sunset”. Keep in mind this light is true to its power so when it is on 100% it gets hot but like I mentioned this light is true to its ratings, i have a digital thermostat and there is no temp change to the water when light is full power. I highly recommend this light for other plant enthusiasts, or someone who just wants a cool light they can turn on and program once and not worry about again. I know there’s plenty of hobbyist out there manually turning lights on everyday, I was once one, come to the bright side!!!

Lasted a month. Shame.
Final update. It quit working. I am done. I just bought a different brand here on Amazon. I hope it lasts more than a month. I cannot reccomend this light. Sorry. 3rd update: I am happy again. The seller sent me a new connector. It worked. Turns out the original connector was faulty. All good now!! Many thanks to the seller for fixing this..... *2nd update. Working with sellers to fix the connector. The two round pieces that plug into each other. If they help me I will replace the stars. UPDATE! Took off 4 stars. After about a month, it stopped working. I need to get this replaced. What a pain!!! Not happy. Well with 7 colors and 4 modes what's not to like. I have this on a 29 gallon tank. The light is only about 16 inches. Then the bars slide out. It is plenty of light. Has a very nice built in timer. Now if it lasts through the warranty period of one year I will be happy. Seems to be well made. Well worth it I think! Highly recommended!!
