Barrington Hardwoods Maple Lumber Square Turning Blanks (4pc) (2" x 2" x 24")

I bought these blanks to make pipes, I also bought mahogany, walnut and Padauk from the same place. Alas a board was required for a Xmas gift so Im using up all the maple and mahogany. All the blanks were perfectly square all the way around along the whole stock. Quality milling. The dimensions on the 4 faces (Width and hight) are not perfect, there is about a 16th of an inch beyond 2 inches on one side, but they are all at least 2 inches as advertised. They are all slightly longer then advertised. One of the maple blanks had visible markings of the milling, but it was on the thicker side so when I cleaned it up with the plane I still got the 2 inches needed. One of the pictures shows an end-grain cutoff sanded to 180 and with mineral oil applied, Im pretty pleased with the grain patterns specially on the mahogany. On the negative side, a picky person would have given them four stars because of the minor details, and also because they took a long time to arrive, and lastly because I thought they were a bit pricey. But overall quite happy. I will keep buying.

Works as described

All four 'sticks' arrived free of damage and were as described. I succeeded in using these to make my first woven seat entry bench using mortise and tenon joinery.

They’re basically OK. Mine were actually 1 5/16” square. No big deal. One blank had a small damaged area on one edge making most of the blank unsuitable for my project. I’ll use it for making some table saw jigs. It wouldn’t be a problem if it was turned. I found a local place that sells these. I will buy the next batch from them. No waiting for delivery and I can pick out the good ones.

I used this for spindle turning on a wood lathe. Good quality and value.

Like the previous poster, I wanted to build my own chess board, and these turn blanks are perfect, I will order again! So the positives everything was clean, sanded, product was described and you get what exactly you pay for. Delivery was on time. The negatives they turning blanks were not the exact dimensions, a couple of pieces were ever so slightly larger. Not a big deal unless you are making a chess board lol. Easily plane them or sand them down to fix. Anyway it’s 5 stars from me!

Pure Junk! Would give Zero Stars if I could. Blanks were supposed to be 2”x2”x12”. Pieces actually measured down as low as 1.910” on one side x 2.030” on the adjacent side, and were not even decent rectangles. Pieces looked more like trapezoids. Serious quality control would certainly have been nice. Looks like these pieces were cut by 3rd graders. Extremely disappointed! Absolutely useless for my project. I would have accepted 2” +/- .010 but almost .100” undersized? Don’t waste your money. I shipped them back for a full refund.
