Thick and sturdy glass! The markings are very clear and don’t seem like they will wear off very fast. The package was sent safely with no breakage. I do think that these items are a little bit overpriced, but I do think it’s also a good value for the money. Most certainly very easy to use in the markings are easy to read.

I read many reviews before ordering this. Like many others I had an old (at least 20 years old) Pyrex measuring cup and it broke the other day. You could barely read the measurements on my old one so I wasn't too upset. I received my new one today and compared it to the old one, visually at least. It is almost identical in height and width. I did measurements and both measured liquids exactly the same. Several people had complained about the spout dripping so I tested that with several liquids. I had no dripping, it poured great. Someone stated that it was made in China and therefore not as good a product. Well unless they are lying to me, mine states made in the USA on the side. The only difference I can see visually is that when looking down on it the glass appears bluish rather than clear whitish. The thickness of the cup is identical too, several had stated that their new one was thinner, mine was not any different for the old one. The only other MAJOR complaint was that the new measuring cups shattered in the microwave. I have not had the chance to find this out for myself. I did buy it to boil water and melt butter in the microwave so it won't be long before I test for this problem. If it does shatter, I will be posting a follow-up. I sure hope it lasts as long as the first one. ******FOLLOW-UP***** I have now had this measuring cup for one year and used it almost every day with it being microwaved probably 4-5 times a week. It is still in perfect shape and has not shattered in the microwave. I did drop it a couple of times on the linoleum floor and it did not break. I am still 100% satisfied.

I have an old Pyrex cup - they last forever - and decided to order a second. Imagine my shock and horror (I exaggerate!) when this fat beasty arrived and looked more like a 2 cup version than a single cup, old-style version. Basically Pyrex made the current edition in a larger diameter, with plenty of room at the top for stirring in ingredients. The "8 ounce, 1 cup" line ends well-below the rim of the measuring cup. On the original edition, the measuring line ends just-below the rim. If you fill to 8 ounces then need to blend in solids or liquids, you can't because the contents will spill. Which one do I like better? Well on the principle that things shouldn't change and I've had the old one for over 30 years, I like the old one better. Practically speaking, you don't have to watch the fill-line as closely since it's right near the top and obvious when you are hitting the full mark. So I use the old one when measuring out water for a cup of coffee. BUT I have discovered the new one is great for "bachelor's oat meal," the recipe for which follows: Bachelor's Oatmeal Recipe Add water to fill line (or lower, if dieting) in the new edition Pyrex measuring cup. Bring water to boil in microwave. Stir in oatmeal (amount varies by thickness desired). The "Bachelor" part: Do not bother transferring to a bowl - it's one more dish to wash. Just add maple syrup and milk on top. The handle on the Pyrex measuring cup doesn't get hot, so you now have a walk-way oatmeal mug. This also works if you are married, but raises eyebrows and elicits groans. Hey, it works! Its my first ever pyrex, glad to find it on Amazon. Perfect for daily use and easy to clean. Sturdy build and easy handling.

The size was too large

Strong clear glass with clear accurate markings. Works best for liquids, can be used for dry ingredients in a pinch. No worry about spilling liquid as you don't fill to the brim. Can handle hot liquids unlike plastic measuring cups. Difficult to pour if you pour too fast or tip it too far. Tip the cup till the liquid is reaching the lip, and then gently keep tilting it to pour. When in a hurry, make sure the entire cup is over your pot/bowl, so any spillage is caught.
