Will this work to replace an automatic shift knob (Wrangler JK 2014) ?

This one is specific to the manual transmission. I believe dv8 has another product for the auto trans.

There are no threads. It slides on and secures with set screws that are under the rubber tread grip.

Will this work on a 2008 Jk?

The older JKs seem to use a different knob with a longer base. For example, search for B082FMWLSC on Amazon. That one is a metallic finish; I don't know if DV8 also makes a black one.
