I used these with the associated makita bit holder testing them out on spax screws as i was unconvinced that the spax bit was gripping the screw as well as it could. These makita bits resulted in a significantly better grip on the screw, no question about it. I probably should point out that that a typical bit holder from the usual brands does not hold these bits as well as the makita bit holder. So you will probably need to get the associated makita bit holder to reap the full benefits of these exceptional bits. Far and away the best bits I have tried. Review: very durable - The bit that came with my drill was much softer and stripped itself out, trying to get a stubborn screw off. These 2 inch Makita bits are much harder and did not strip and therefore I was able to remove all the screws with one bit. No detectable wear on the bit afterwards.
