Good head and works for everything I need it for.
So far so good. I love the backup camera [I did use the camera that came with it but am going to use a ball camera instead. For me I want to see a little more then just backing up. The sound is good [i don't use the radio, just the SC and usb] But I did use the DVD and it sound good and the videos are clean. It does not like MP4 or MKV, but it will do AVI and MPG1or 2. I also attached a parking brake bypass, so I could use the AV input to run another camera for a very cool view of the underside of the car when I crawling. I backed it up with a Rockville mono 2000watt amp and 2 -12" Kickers that Fricking rock the whole beast. The radio is pushing 2 6" coaxes in the front doors with 2 tweets on the dash and 2-4x9 on the rear piler, 2-6" mid-subs and to 6x9 3 ways in the rear doors. The sound is good even without the subs/amp. I have installed a kill switch for the sub on the ant/amp cable so if 5.0 get to close I can kill the sound quickly and a work around switch on the backup camera so I can see behind me while pulling a trailer to see if everything is ok. FYI when you use the backup camera the sound drops to a whisper. I sure do wish i could figure out how to get around that. OH one more thing. The head is very very deep and it will not fit in a shallow hole if you don't have a lot of romm behind the radio. It will have to stick out a bit. and hot glue the wires so they don't slip off over time. Goop does a good job to but is very hard to get off.

Absolutely the best valued radio on the market. (Instructions in this review)
Im giving this head unit a five out of five simply based on quality/quantity for the price. Let me start by saying that this unit already has a good customer rated following which is why i ultimately chose to buy it. It is very reasonably price at under $200 and that includes the model with the rear back up camera (which is the one that i bought). Installing the unit was simple after doing a little research. There is a lack of instructions for installing the unit but i will give some simple advice toward the end of the review. After installing the unit i happened to be very impressed at the amount of features and the quality at which this product delivers for the price. I feel like the unit is much more high end and enxpensive than i had originally anticipated. The finish of the bezel is in high gloss black. The screen comes with a pre install sticcker with warnings on it but if you are careful at removing it there will be a second clear protective layer that stays on to help prevent scratches. The radio has a couple backgrounds that you can choose from (although most of the time the screen will be on the radio or whatever media mode you are using at the time). However you can navigate through the radio's features without disturbing your media playback. The screen resolution for playing movies is superb! I played a 720p movie from a micro sd card and it plays it wonderfully. Very clear and in high definition. Bluetooth connectiin can be a bit confusing. When you pair your device you need to go to the hands free mode or the screen that shows the dial pad for making calls. Here it will say disconnected. Click on the link icon at the bottom right. When you are in this screen make sure your devices bluetooth is on AND is discoverable (for android users). Click search on the unit. Your device should see a device called BOSSxxx (x being numbers). Once the phone pairs it will ask for a pin. Just type 0000 and it will connect. This should only have to be done when you first pair the two. The call quality is very clear. Just make sure you put the mic in a good spot on the dash to where your voice will easily be picked up when facing forward. It can be so clear that the other person may not realize that you are essentially having a phone call on speaker phone. Installing the unit is pretty straight forward if you are using the appropiate adapters for your model car (sold seperately). Buy that because it is worth the few dollars and it wires color to color. No guessing and no hacking your factory harness. When you get to your rear camera this part gets the lack of instructions. When you run the wires you'll notice that each end of the yellow rca cable has a short red wire. The red wire at the end that plugs to the back of the radio will tie into the radio's harness wire labeled camera. The red wire at the end that plugs to the camera needs to be tied into your rear tail lights to get it's power so it will come up automatically when you put the car in reverse. It does come with a hole saw foe the camera to fit in and the camera is very compact and inconspicuos. However, if you ar drilling into a thick steal bumper you should drill a pilot hole all the way through first before using the hole saw because the bit provided is very dull. Before you finish pushing your camera all the way into the hole, engage your park brake and put the vehicle in reverse so you can see which way the camera is facing (there is a specific way the camera must face). Also, there are a couple different ways that you can use your rear camera (such as having it on all the time) so do your research if you want to utilize this feature in different ways. When its all said and done this unit is extremely ideal for the price and functionality. The only thing this radio lacks versus any other high end unit is well in my opinion nothing. It works exactly how i wanted and even exceeded my expectation with the feel of its OS. I highly recommend this product!

Good product for the money!
This system is great for the price, pretty simple though. I'm just going to list the pros and the cons from what I've experienced from owning it. I Installed this device in my 2004 dodge 1500 and fit fairly well, YOU MUST BUY AN ADAPTER FOR THE 2004 DODGE 1500 OR YOU WILL NOT GET SOUND. But I've read with other vehicles it does not do this. Pros: Simple to install Simple to operate Usp port to charge your phone Back up camera option(comes with drill bit to actually dril a whole to fit the camera in your vehicle) Easy to use interface Pretty smooth finish Sound quality is great Cons: A little laggy interface when sliding screens Bluetooth music option sounds like s***, quality is much better with aux cord Wish there was a feature when playing music that you could see what you were playing on the screen of the system Other than those few cons everything on the system is worth the price, I enjoy is and use it everyday!

Unit is ok... service and support is horrible
I'll start by saying this unit looks and sounds pretty good. The screen is bright and clear and the included rear view camera is nice. But, I had some problems. First, it comes with no installation instructions, and none are on their website, so you're on your own. I bought the recommended ASWC-1 steering wheel control module, and had to search for instructions on how to wire it. When I found them, the Boss instructions referred to wires that were labeled differently on my system. After getting it installed, I had some problems. The touch screen is not very good at all, having to repeatedly touch it several times before it worked. There is a touch screen calibration utility that didn't really help. After installing the ASWC-1 controller, the controls did not work. Finally discovered there is a utility in the Boss unit to assign functions to the steering wheel controls, a fact that is not documented anywhere. Despite this, the forward and back buttons would only go back. The shuffle function didn't work properly either, cycling through the same 3 or 4 songs repeatedly. Then, after using it for 2 days, the unit would randomly freeze up and stop working. You could not even turn the unit off, the only way to reset it was to turn the car power off. I called Boss support, and they told me to do a hard reset, which was always recommended after any install. Again, installation instructions would be nice. That didn't work, so I called them again. They recommended I return the unit and get a replacement from Amazon. Amazon did not offer an exchange, only a refund, and that wasn't an option as I had already discarded some of the packaging and unused accessories. I contacted the Amazon seller to see if I could get a replacement of just the head unit... they never responded. So, back to Boss. They initiated a warranty repair. They would not send a replacement unit, I had to return ship the defective unit to them, and they would look at it and decide then to repair it or replace it. They did provide a UPS shipping label... for GROUND shipping to the west coast (I'm in NJ). So shipping back to them took a full week. They have had the unit delivered to their facility on Monday 6/27. It is now Thursday, 6/30 and it hasn't even been logged into their repair queue yet. So, I have been almost 2 full weeks driving with a hole in my dash and no radio. Seriously Amazon?? For a product faulty right out of the box, the seller or manufacturer should replace it immediately rather than making your customers jump through hoops and wait to get a functioning product. Not like it broke after 6 months... it never worked right to begin with. And the reseller doesn't even respond to inquiries. Wish I could get my money back. Update... I lowered my rating to 1 star because it is now July 9th and I still do not have a response or replacement from BOSS Audio. They have had my unit for almost 2 weeks and nothing. Stay away from this manufacturer!

Great value, so-so design
The touch screen is not very sensitive at all; it takes multiple taps to navigate anywhere. The radio interface is weird in that there's no apparent way to enter the desired station frequency, or even a way to scan for stations. It'll scan your presets, which I mean, why? The disc player is good, except I don't see any way to STOP play; there seems to be only PAUSE, which automatically re-starts after a short time. The interface is so weird I prefer not to play discs at all. And don't count on the manual being ANY help at all. Between the poor English and spotty information, it's almost useless. On the positive side, it does have DIN screw holes on the side, so I was able to use the factory brackets in my Nissan Frontier. And the SD card & USB inputs work really well once you learn how to navigate the unit's file directory structure. Sound is good, even if the radio volume is way higher than the other modes. Be sure to turn it down before switching to radio mode. There are fixed wallpaper options, but when I change them the screen looks exactly the same. No way that I can see to upload your own pics. This is a weird little head unit, but a darn good value since you get so much functionality for the price point.

Review and Install Tips
Needed an affordable replacement for my 98 Maxima. Looked around for < $100 unit and compared reviews and products. Received it 2 days after my order and installed the next day. I bought a wiring harness adapter from NAPA Auto parts for $6.30 and a diversity antenna adapter from car toys for $15.99. those were the only things I needed (don't actually need it but saved time and effort from splicing wires/headaches/finger scraps). Removed old unit and installed wiring harness - no issues ( 15-20 min uninstall time). Next installed the Boss radio and tested before finishing install ( 5-10 mins) no sound =( a little Google searching yielded: factory amplifier (and power antenna) is installed in the trunk and needed to be connected. Once I connected the power lead to the amp & antenna - sound was established. Had a whine noise coming from the radio when playing, so I made a common ground location for all electronics in the car (to cancel the loop ground issue) and problem solved. That was my fault for not thinking it through while connecting the wiring harness. The rear camera also included a drill tap bit to cut a hole in the back for the camera - you only need a regular hand held drill. Connected the power lead from the camera to my reverse lights and worked great. connected my iPhone via Bluetooth (BT) and streamed great, walked away (broke connection and/or turn off radio) came back and it auto reconnected and was ready for me. This is a great unit for the price Thank you! IF YOU PLAN TO INSTALL YOURSELF: # get the harness adapter (its too cheap not to do it - really) # sit down at the table and solder the radio harness wires to the adapter wires then use shrink tubing - stay classy man # check your vehicle manual/manufacturer website to see if an amplifier is installed for your make model year - if you installed and have no sound and your speaker wires are connected correctly and unit powers on - you probably have an amp installed somewhere (trunk or maybe front pass door my speaker) # if you have a diversity antenna (has 2 lead ends in connector) you will need an adapter # connect unit ground wire with unit parking ground wire - unless you truly are safety conscious then the unit parking wire goes to the emergency parking brake wire but video playback will only function while the E-brake is on (FYI) # possibility of needing a dremel tool or file for the edge of the faceplate for your vehicle. the unit was just a little larger than the faceplate (at least for my vehicle 98 Maxima) Side note: I also installed a Raspberry Pi 3 while I was doing this and connected it via HDMI to AV converter to the AV source on the unit. great project with many uses with this setup.

You won't believe me - But sounds great
The installer in LA seemed a little insulted that i wanted them to install this - (Paired with BOSS Front & rear speakers..) But, I like BOSS products - and figured these days - companies can make such quality products for low prices - and for this price - it was worth trying. I have an old car, so i just wanted something decent to replace my worn factory speakers. And the features are heavy - from inputs to playing choices - multiple FM bands - SD cards - Corded, Bluetooth, DVD.... It has a very helpful Remote... The back up camera is much clearer than the one in my old Acura. And most importantly - The sound is really good... I don't like Bumpin.... I need flat, True sound for my purposes. But even when i listen to Migos or Fetty - e.g. - I can get a pretty fat buy true sound.... I think, at lease worth a listen - if you want a feature deep unit - that sounds pretty good - looks pretty good - but doesn't tear your wallet. The "i wish" is the LCD panel - wish it could have been brighter. All good 95% of the time - But in extremely sunny days - when the sun is positioned low - it can get hard to see. But the Remote is then very handy - so you don't have to fumble...
