Can this outlet be wired so that it is half-switched half-hot?

Yes it can, you have to break a tab off. It is in the instructions that come with it. Probably find copy on their web site.

Does the nightlight part of this product have a light sensor to turn the nightlight off during daylight hours?

Yes it does. The online supplier is more expensive than Lowes on line (stores don't stock this model). I ended up buying 4 of these (1 Amazon/3 Lowes) after seeing one in a vacation rental in FL last year. I was interested in not losing outlets to nightlights plus the illumination level is adjustable in discrete increments---H-M-L.

Is the built-in on/off sensor motion detector or dusk/dawn type?

In this video I found the ‘sweet spot’ of dimming my vanity light above (not pictured) to a point in between the sensor sensitivity settings. After holding the button for the required time, the device flashes twice or three times and correspondingly after another second the light will either come on or it won’t.

I want this outlet without the tamper resistant plugs... Can't find any?? Help

I bought the amber LED version of this outlet. I can assure you that the tamper resisting shutters are well designed, and the plugs I've tried fit into it just like a non-TR type outlet.
