You need this for your epoxy countertop. Don't sit there and hem and haw, because its expensive for a relatively tiny amount of product (it is, tho 🤷‍♀️), and the epoxy you got is supposed to be super tough and resistant to heat and scratches already, and it will 'ruin the clarity' of your design, and, and, and... I thought all that. But erred on the side of caution in the end. I am so glad I did! Just budget for this product. Buy it, follow the directions precisely, and cover every work surface. Yes, it has a very slight orange peel effect. You will get used to that and it isn't aggressive, nor does it ruin the beauty of your epoxy design. The satin sheen is phenomenal and reduces the 'plasticiness' of the glossy epoxy, making it resemble burnished stone or metal much more closely. But the Number 1 reason you need to buy and use this top coat is... The hype is real. It is tough as heck. Mind you, I try to be a bit precious about my beloved counters because it took so dang much work to get them looking like this (the sanding! Oh, the hours of sanding after mess ups and overheating chemicals and... Oh my! So many foibles were had). When I finally had the epoxy smooth and lovely, needless to say, taking another chance with this expensive product made me a bit sick to my stomach. What if I messed it up? But it went perfectly. For all our trials and tribulations with the epoxy pours, the top coat was a piece of cake. And this is a busy kitchen. We slide pans and even cast iron when we shouldn't (🤨 yes honey, I saw that). We run an ancient food processor that tries to chop the counter surface as much as the carrots and sounds like a freight train. Our massive meat grinder - no dents or scratches. The kitchen-aid doesn't slide or scratch it. Although, apparently our old crockpot also cooks the surface it sits on (who knew?) as evidenced by the little melty foot marks that appeared on the counter after a roast was made (tip: get some silicone mats and use them for appliances. We got immensely lucky, or this topcoat product really is a miracle, because the epoxy actually filled back in over time and the melty marks have vanished. But we learned our lesson and have silicone mats for all such hot endeavors now - instant pots too! Note: we did not use this brand's epoxy so this brand may not be so heat sensitive) We do not have an auto dishwasher, just the sink, so our dishes tend to pile up on the counter with the lights in the pic. I didn't show the long counter because its a bit messy and I can't be bothered to tidy it for a review right now 😉, but suffice to say, its all one long piece on the other side of the sink and it looks just as spectacular when its cleaned off. Anyway, so after a year, there isn't a chip, scratch, ding or smudge on these counters that I can't just wipe off with a bit of soapy water. The sink was brand new and installed with the counters and its all scratched up (I am just as precious about it), but the counter is as good as new. No joke. The photos are all taken today, about 14 months post installation. Please forgive that the cabinets could use a coat of wax and the the backsplash is looking a bit, well... splashed. 😊 But the counters are gorgeous as ever. Also, I have only ever used Dawn dish soap and water, or up to 99% isopropyl alcohol to clean these counters. No other chemicals, so I can't speak to how they handle any other chemical cleaners. So... Buy this stuff. It cost us about $60 in 2023. Its still the same price in '24. Its salty, yes, but its 100% a necessary part of your kitchen remodel budget. Do not skip this step. You will not regret it.

I just applied UTC gloss finish and I am super pleased with the results. I was a bit leery about doing this after reading the negative reviews but after watching videos and researching how to apply it turned out perfect. There is a texture to it (says so on the product) but I feel the texture is determined by the nap of the roller. Be sure to use the microfiber 1/4” nap and have LOTS of them! I did notice that when doing the dry roll, if my roller got too wet, it would smear. So be sure to change them out often. Having only a 15min work time was a little stressful but doable. My coverage area was 80sqft so I sectioned it off into 3 pours. I will say, the product is more forgiving than I expected (had a few oopsies with dog hair getting in the product). I was able to fix it while wet, roll again and dry roll. My take away from the whole Stonecoat countertop experience is to just trust the process.

This is a necessary final step for any epoxy project that will see daily use. While a clear flood coat looks like glass, it can scratch if you slide a heavy ceramic bowl across it; the Ultimate Top Coat solves this by adding a tough, protective layer. The 15-minute working time is short, so you have to move fast, but the results are incredibly professional. It goes on milky white, which helps you see where you've applied it, and then dries crystal clear, also the Matte finish hides all the imperfections which is a huge plus.

I must have watched fifty videos on the company website on applying an epoxy counter top and their ultimate top coat finish before doing anything. Applying the epoxy was rather easy. Their top coat tutorial could use an upgrade and doesn’t work as it’s supposed to. My first attempt following company video tutorial exactly left, as many others have said, an orange peel look and feel. Looked cheap and terrible. I contacted the company and they recommended I sand the top coat off with 220 grit sand paper and redo. The second attempt did the trick. But this time I followed a tip I saw here on Amazon reviews. After you mix the two bottles of top coat, start adding in a little water at a time. Keep mixing. You want the top coat to be just about the same viscosity as water. Apply generously with their recommended roller. Second tip, have several dry rollers prepped. Use the dry roller to remove the access. The trick I found is the moment your dry roller is dampened from the access, swap for another dry roller and keep going. For my counter space I used four dry rollers total. And as you can see, no orange peel. Damn near looks and feels like natural stone. Summary. Product works. Their directions are poor. Lastly, the only thing that causes mild trouble to cook with is tumeric. The yellow for some reason really likes to stick. Especially my counters are white. It doesn’t stain but takes a lot of elbow grease to get off. Hope this helps others!

This process worked really well. I watched lots of YouTube videos to help me feel confident about tackling the project. I am thrilled with the results. I only needed to do one countertop that I purchased to replace a china cabinet for more space. You must be diligent in setting up your work space with floor protection. I used an old shower curtain and was very careful about where I stepped! That helped tremendously! Absolutely love the final results! Also be prepared for hours of dripping! It helps to smooth the epoxy dripping off by rubbing it with gloved fingers and rub it in to the underside of the countertop! It did require some sanding to the underside where it continued to drip. But rubbing the epoxy to the underside made it feel smoother to the touch.

I did my counters and have never liked the ultra glossy look. So I went ahead and did this. Full disclosure, it's not dry yet, but so far I am not amused. Yes it's a matte look, which I wanted, but it's not smooth. It leaves a texture behind that I can't imagine is going to be easy to clean. I expected it to level out a bit. I did apply it in a thin layer as it says. I will look at it in the morning after it has sat over night but I'm not hopeful. I wanted matte, not a whole different counter. Also, the measurements are off. I have 50 sq feet of counter and I didn't even use half of the mix. The description says the whole thing covers 50 sq ft. I could easily have done twice that. So not only does the finish suck so far, but I wasted a whole lot of product, which means a good bit of money. Update: It is now dry and I am VERY unhappy. The texture it leaves behind is AWFUL. Who thought that would be good for a countertop? Cleaning it would be a nightmare alone. My counters are a white base, so it doesn't look cloudy as some said, but I am now going to have to deal with the nightmare of sanding this awful stuff down. I'm going to lose some of my design as I did not do a clear top coat because I had planned on using this. So unhappy. I have a call in to the company to see if there is an easier way to remove as it has been less than the 48 hours they note on their label for not getting it wet. I wanted smooth matte.... not horrible laminate. Next time I will wet sand and use the Envirowax from countertopepoxy instead. UPDATE 2: Spoke with Stone Coat on the phone. The girl didn't really seem to care that I was not pleased with their product. I have words, but I won't bother here. I won't use any of their products again. HOWEVER: if you want to use this product know that 1. this is a MATTE product. It's not supposed to be shiny like the epoxy initially. Stop bitching that it's matte when that's what it's supposed to be. 2. THIN IT WAY DOWN. This will give the thin coat that will be more smooth. Had I known that part I might have been OK with that I ended up with. However it is NOT in their instructions ANYWHERE. Not on the bottle. Not on their site and not on the Amazon page.

I wanted marble counter tops but couldn’t afford them so I painted white and then painted the marble lines in. I sealed it with this Stone Coat Epoxy and I LOVE them. This epoxy was self leveling. It is so strong and durable too! I now love my countertops!

This product is excellent, delivers exactly as advertised. Follow the install to the letter and you Won’t have any issues. Keep the place ventilated when using. Wearing a respirator imho is a good idea for your health, don’t scrimp out on that as your health is everything, other that that great product, great application and great results.

Easy to use great results

I bought this to use as a protective coat for clear epoxy projects (such as knife handles), it states that it cures clear with a matte finish, and a coat of 1-2mm, it didn’t have any other suggestions or warnings of what it could/couldn’t be used for so I tried it and more or less ruined the things I used it on. I thought the matte finish would be fairly clear to see through because they advertise it to go over river tables etc. with intricate details underneath but when I coated with a thin layer it became more like a translucent white (at thicknesses less than 1mm), because I mixed too much I tried to make a handle using the top coat as the entire resin volume, it just came out the same, like a white slightly translucent bubbly plastic type texture. I figured because it is used for floors which would make it hard to vacuum degas that it would have minimal bubbles or at least surface that would flame out but no such luck. Based on the other feedback I would guess that it works well for purpose, but these days everyone is using 2 part resins for all kinds of things, so I think the ad should have very clear descriptions of what it can and can’t do like other resins, especially when it cost me nearly 100$ for the smallest portion, just sayin…
