12" Max Range! GARBAGE
I want my money back. And you will too! I attempted to upload an 8 second video proving the max range is 12" testing an Ethernet cable. Total waste of time and money.

The Best
This is a excellent tool. It has worked 100% at finding the wires. Every electrician should have one

Good value
This thing works great and comes in a enclosed case. It’s easy to use but I am concerned about longevity as it’s made pretty cheaply I foresee it breaking first time I drop it and that’s assuming the cheap plastic knobs don’t break first Other than that it does work well so no complaints about performance.

This one Flys under the radar
I have used this for 5 days a week for the last 8 years and finally needed to replace it from being dropped way too many times. Better than fluke

Great idea but with severe limitations
The satellite company lost our cable TV coax in the deep attic insulation. I tried this device in hopes of locating the open circuit end of the cable. It proved to be a frustrating and worthless exercise groping around with the receiver on a stick. You have to be within millimeters of the open circuit to detect the signal! The tool is probably swell if you have a rack or outlet at either end of the connection - but in such a case an ohm meter would probably suffice in even the hands of a novice.

Wand 5 star
The wand is frankly one of the best I've used. The tone generator, not so much. Really like the klien tone generator over this cheap pos. My cable iq sends out the strongest tone of everything I got.

Exceeds the manufacture's promises, especially if you read the manual!
I'm using this kit to identify 120V wiring and have been impressed by the performance. The manufacturer claims that the "Hound" will detect a wire that's attached to the "Fox" up to a foot away. In my early experience, it does better than that. Some tips: Read the manual. Sensing at a distance is better using the Ground-to-Line method (p. 36 in the manual), but "Line-to-Line" is impressive as well with standard Romex wire once you're away from any bundling of multiple cables. DON'T FORGET TO DISCONNECT THE LINE FROM POWER BEFORE PROCEEDING. My only complaint is that I wish they'd added a 60 & 120 Hz filter to avoid buzzing (which the manual tells you to expect). You do have the option of plugging in headphones, leaving them out of your ears, setting the "Fox" to pulse mode, and watching the LED on the "Hound" instead of listening. Or tape over the speaker is an option as well.
