Expensive But Works
Instructions indicate using the entire kit for one use, but can get 3 uses out of it. Sadly only comes with one collection kit. Ask your vet for an extra empty syringe and vile to keep on hand. It appears to be waxed sand so cat had the satisfaction of trying to bury, but urine will not be absorbed. Tip litter box and liquid will run off so you can collect. There is not enough to cover a small litter box, even if you used all 3 packages, so use the smallest box you can. My cat didnโt mind peeing mostly on plastic as long as it had sand to scratch around in. Have had to use twice. Worked both times. Kinda expensive for what it is, but itโs not an everyday item.

Absolutely worth the price
I was hesitant to buy this because everybody said there wasn't very much litter. However you don't need a lot. You don't want too much litter because it's much easier to get the sample with less litter. I pulled out the old litter and the bag it was in and put this directly in the litter box with no liner and it just barely covered the bottom it was a very very thin layer. I heard him using the litter box I immediately went and checked and the urine just ran off of it and went to the corner. Super easy to get the sample I was able to get it to the vet within a couple of hours. Yes it's kind of expensive but it's way easier than trying to get a cat urine sample without it. Most cats aren't even going to try to use a litter box that has nothing in it. I used all three little bags because his litter box is quite large. If you need a quick sample I would 10 out of 10 recommend this. Once you get your sample you remove it and put normal litter back in. The $18 I paid was well worth it. It saved me so much time and stress trying to get a sample!!!

Test results matched the vets
My cat had not been using the litter box properly and eating a little less. I thought it was just environmental stress because it eventually stopped. I wanted to be sure that everything was fine so I bought this test to rule out a UTI. The test was easy to use and the test results matched exactly what the vets did. Abnormal protein and blood in the urine. It wasnโt a UTI but a potential feline idiopathic cystitis diagnosis. My cat has had many inflammatory issues in the last year in different areas of her body and the vets are trying to connect the dots. This test will be a life saver if youโre someone who is constantly fighting between yet another vet visit/bill or fighting your own anxiety. The test could be better by providing more litter and additional test strips other than just two.

My cat was peeing everywhere
I hardly ever write reviews on products, but this one really saved me so I thought I would write about my experience for all the other cat people. My house reeked of cat pee since my girl had been randomly peeing in random places. I took her to the vet and they told me to buy some plastic litter and bring them a urine sample because it would be more expensive if they had to go in her bladder and extract it themselves, so I tried to get her to use the plastic litter I bought at the vet, she refused. Then she stopped peeing for awhile so I thought the problem had resolved itself. Nope, I woke up to my @%^&%# cat peeing on my head and neck! I was so pissed off and frustrated with her, I wanted to kill her!!! (I would never) I researched why my cat would being peeing everywhere, the website said that it could be stress, changes, dietary problems, or health issues (kidney and UTI). So I ended up looking up on Amazon for a product that would help me determine what the problem is without having to pay another $60 for a 15 minute visit. So I bought the kit and used it immediately the next morning, I put my cat in the bathroom (took out all the rugs of course) and left for work. I came home later that day and she used the bathroom on the hydrophobic sand. Great! I got the test strip and dipped it in her urine and low and behold, she had increased protein, her pH levels were off the chart. So I looked it up and turns our she had a UTI. At the same time I purchased this kit, I suspected it was a UTI so I purchased BestLife4Pets Cat UTI Urinary Tract Infection Treatment; All Natural Homeopathic. I gave her 3 pills a day which dissolved easily but still had to hold her down while she cried. But it was easy peesy and ever since I started giving her those pills, she stopped peeing everywhere. I am so thankful for this kit! The amount of sand you get is not a whole lot, so I think the kit could be a little cheaper but overall, it worked like a charm!

Keep an eye on the tiny collection items
I specifically ordered a product called kit 4cat which my vet recommended and I received this product. Maybe they change the name of the product but I've never heard of this stuff before. Yesi t does what the other brand is supposed to do and I'm sure this is far cheaper than the vet getting a sample from the cat. But I was a little bugged that they only included two test strips one little squeezy plastic tube thing which is clear and very easy to misplace as I did. Since you get three packs of sand, I'm baffled why they didn't include three test strips or an extra squeezy tube to collect the urine for each testing. For the cost of 3 really small bags of sand I felt they could have splurged a little and included two or three squeeze tubes. I needed to do a secondary test first thing in the morning as recommended and couldn't find the dang squeeze tube anywhere. Couldn't find any thing to use in place of the cheap squeeze tube so I just dipped the strips into the urine puddles around the sand. You clean off the strips of excess urine and compare the colors to the chart on the back of the instruction card. Hopefully I did the test strips correctly. Don't forget to refrigerate the test strips and then take them to your vet to have them evaluate them. Why did you pick this product vs others?: I selected what my vet recommended and this is what I got. I think if I have to do it again I will look for something else.

I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!
I am thoroughly disgusted! My cat is sick and I bought this kit suggested my by my veterinarian. I purchased a disposable litter boxes and I put the sand at the bottom of the litter box. My cat used it right away. I did all this work and when I opened the little package that the dropper and tube is supposed to be in there was none!!!! There were only two test strips there ! I had to go to the Vet and spend more money to pay for another test kit so that we could get the answers to her test. This was a lot of work & a lot of $$$ to do and then have to throw everything away including the disposable litter boxes that I paid for. I would not advise anyone to buy this product or to at least make sure that what is in the little package includes everything!

Itโs actually accurate
I found this to be an extremely valuable tool for distinguishing between behavioral issues vs medical. I have a cat with a history of peeing outside the litter box out of spite. When I moved into a new house, she began peeing on the carpet instead of the litter box. I chalked it up to a new environment and stress from the move. A few weeks later and she continued peeing on the carpet. I had tried everything, adding litter boxes, moving them around, changing litter, changing food, etc. Now, sheโs not the nicest cat and I really wanted to avoid a (stressful for both of us) trip to the vet if I could. I bought this and decided to give it a shot. I will say, it took her about 12 hours to actually go in the sand. That was the most challenging part. Collecting and testing the sample was easy. It showed protein and PH being off. I called the vet the next day and got her in. They took a urine sample and just called with results. Her protein and PH was high. Exactly as the kit had indicated. Now she can be treated appropriately. Iโm very thankful this kit gave me an additional indication something was off. She didnโt show any other signs of an UTI. I will definitely use again in the future if I need to! 100% recommend.

Just works
The urine floats on top. It is amazing. We just tried it and my cat was fine. She only had stomach problem. Saved money on a lot of useless tests.

Stress free way to test your cat - even if it can lead ultimately to a visit to the vet ๐
Easy to use, although pipette and test tube a bit small - however loved the second strip just in case. The protein marker was difficult to read due to very similar colours but thought there was an issue. We tested our cat, he used the litter as normal stuff (use alone - no other litter. Don't be deterred by lack of coverage. We have extra large cat -6.8kg - so extra large litter tray, sparse cover, still worked well) we thought possible urinary infection as blocked 1 year ago and was (sorry graphic) grooming his penis in a way he hasn't before. Test suggested ph problem (UTI) and protein in urine (kidney problem). Straight to vet who confirmed PH imbalance possible cystitis, possible early diagnosis of kidney disease.... that was after blood tests and further urine analysis. So for an extremely nervous stressed out cat this worked well to test before subjecting him to the severe stress of a visit to the vet. Although that is where it ulimately led! Will buy again!! Thank you.

Accurate
I tested my cat when she began urinating around the house. The test came up positive for protein and was later confirmed at the vets. It is a good starting place, to see if your cat needs further investigation.

Great product!
Performed this test on a urine sample from my one year old male Scottish fold because he was exhibiting a new behavior (genital licking) and I am SO glad I did. Took him to the vet because of the results and he was diagnosed with a bladder infection and struvite crystal formation. They said that if I didn't take him in when I did his urinary tract could have become plugged which could have been fatal if unnoticed. He is now on medication, his food has been switched and he is doing well. I would have taken him into the vet even if this test came back negative, but who knows how bad the infection would have gotten by that time. Not sure how accurate this test is, but it seems to be good enough to at least alert you there is something going on with kitty. Overall, very easy to use and I would highly recommend all cat owners to have one of these on hand.
