I don’t have a bar in my tub but I have hung this on a towel rack at a hotel and I use it on our blanket ladder which I use for a towel ladder and it works great. They are stored out of the way and because it drains so well I don’t have a ton of water on the floor if I just shake it a few times over the tub after we put the toys in it when she gets out. The snaps have held up and we use this almost daily for months. I haven’t used the side pockets yet I have no need for them but I’m sure you could use it for soap bottles.
