A nice change in pace for a JRPG.
People literally had to beg Nintendo for an American release and was it worth it...I would say it was.The thing that captivated me was the world the game takes place on.The Bionis is a giant mech like being that is shown during the beginning of the game fighting another giant whose name is the Mechonis. While you are playing you can see the mechonis when you look towards the sky.The story is about the struggle between the beings of the Bionis and the Mechonis.Your village is attacked by the Mechon and you are then forced to wield a legendary blade known as the monado.Which is the only blade capable of destroying the mechon, but then a masked mechon appears and your blade is innefecctive which is explained later on in the game. The combat in this game is real time and your attacks are layed out in an mmo fashion. Each attack must cool down after use.It takes a while to get used to the combat and I have heard people give up much to soon because the combat is much too complicated.Well it kind of is because I tried playing it again after several months and I pretty much had to start a new game just to remember what each ability did.The only thing that is wrong with this game is its price.Sellers are hiking up the price which basically means less people get to experience this game.Luckily I got my hands on a new copy for 80 bucks.

Arguably the best wii rpg game
Arguably the best wii rpg game. The story is really good and although Japanese rpgs are notorious for their cliches and tropes, this one somehow manages to distinguish itself and to appear fresh. The graphics: while not HD, they are still impressive for a wii game probably because of this game came very late it the wii's life cycle and because of the excellence of the developers. The environments look so expansive and captivating. On the other hand, the characters' face models are not on par with the environments and they look 'washed out.'Gameplay: it is an action rpg but battles play like mmo's and you upgrade your abilities as you defeat more enemies and collect equipment from monsters in the form of loot. To be honest the battle system is not this game's strong point, but is alright nonetheless. There are too many quests in this game. While they are optional, doing all of them is probably beyond the capability of normal humans, so if you don't want to feel burnt out, do not try to do all of them despite the amazing rewards for some of them.Music: amazing soundtrack. Each area has its own theme which is both memorable and suitable to it.In summary, although the story and characters are this game's strong point, everything else contributes organically to forming a very memorable strong experience despite the small nitpicks I mentioned earlier. However, if you don't have 100 hours plus to immerse yourself in this game, I still hope you can manage somehow at some point not to miss out on this gem.

Quite possibly the greatest game on the Wii EVER!
Being a wii owner is not a great experience. The number of truly great games on the machine probably don't even hit double digits but this is certainly a contender for number 1.Xenoblade is the story of a young man named Shulk who becomes the weilder of a weapon known as the Monado, a weapon that has been used in a conflict against a mechanical enemy known as the Mechon. The world consists of two lands, Bionis where the Homs (humans) live and Mechonis, the home of the Mechon, Shulk wants revenge on the Mechon after an attack on his colony by the Mechon but as with most JRPGs things are not quite what they seem and Shulk's jorney will take him across both lands as he fights to end the conflict permanently. On a technical standpoint Xenoblade is stunning, easily one of the best looking games on the Wii, envirnonments are beautiful and monsters and characters are very detailed. Party member appearance changes based on weapon and armour selection. The voice acting is very good, Xenoblade was localized by Nintendo Europe so the usual suspects in videogames don't turn up, most of the cast are British theatre actors with former Upper Hand star Kellie Bright the most famous name on the cast list. It does make a nice change of pace from the usual American/Canadian cast you tend to get. Gameplay is superficially identical to Final Fantasy XII, combat takes place on the field and you control one member of the party while the AI controls the other party members, however there is no function similar to the "Gambit" system of FFXII so the ally AI is left to it's own devices, most of the time it makes sensible decisions and there is the ability to direct your ally on certain enemies or get them to hang back but no real AI manipulation on the scale of FFXII.While the lack of AI cutomisation is a little disappoining the ally AI is good enough that it very rarely becomes and issue. If you own a Wii, if you are an old school gamer, if you bemoan the lack of "proper" RPGs on the Wii then get this game.

The best JRPG of this generation hands down
And to me the best game I have played for years. There is nothing like the Xeno series, but Monolith really went the extra mile with X. Chronicles. I still prefer the Xenogears/Saga storyline (it was developed through 3-4 games and spanned thousands of years, actually messing with concepts of universe recreation and other philosophical "meta-thesis" in a deeper, more prolongued way than throwing it out in the last ours of Chronicles with flashbacks, so it had that advantage). It's also the most beautiful game in a Wii, the most beautiful game so far (when played in an emulator), and if they don't remake this in HD in future years, I don't know what else deserves it. It's probably the best, more lovely constructed fictional world outside of stuff like Tolkien.

... should get a 'verified purchase' from amazon for this excellent game as I'm sure I bought it from amazon ...
I should get a 'verified purchase' from amazon for this excellent game as I'm sure I bought it from amazon 4+ years ago and didn't open it until a month ago and decided to put it in my WiiU. NOTE: The WiiU game PRO Controller which is optional does NOT work with this game, I went out and bought one of the last remaining Wii controllers to play this game on my WiiU as I cannot stand playing with the Wii nunchuck.Nothing much to be said ... the WiiU scales up the graphics alright and they look ok but the strength of this game is a) the combat system b) the setting and the story and the drama and c) the music. It's easily on par with the very best JRPGs.

My God what a classic!
I can't begin to describe this game! You play as Shulk as he journeys across the "world" (which is in fact the two corpses of two "gods") with his friends and the mythical weapon the Monado on a quest to destroy the Mechon. The game comes in both Japanese and English and they do vary slightly in terms of language (for example the Mechon are called Keshinhei in Japanese). I picked up this game on a whim, thinking it would be a way to pass some time but man oh man was I wrong! This game is a classic and I couldn't put it down for a whole week!! In 3 days, I had collected 5 out of my 7 allies!! My God it is such a good game and I totally recommend this to RPG fans out there; it is wonderful!
