Holy Stone HS720E Drone with 4K Camera for Adults

Hi all. As a drone flyer beginner, the Holy Stone HS720 Foldable GPS Drone with 4K UHD Camera was a joy to get into the drone recreational and semi-sports recording bug. I have always been my son’s football team photographer from when he was little. Now that he’s getting higher up in the league going in to Jr. Varsity I had to step up my game. They started 7 on 7 games an found the game is getting faster and taking pictures and video from the ground is not enough to help the coaches study the players and the game. I decided let’s try using a drone. The Holy Stone HS720 Foldable GPS Drone with 4K UHD Camera was so easy to setup when I opened the box and even easier to fly. The easiest was to ability to find online training videos. In less then 30 minutes I can say I was almost a pro. I removed the beginner restrictions and started to fly higher, further, and faster. The return home button was a life saver, the moment I saw I was losing control and orientation I hit the home button and the drone came right just like when I call my dog. Within one day I had enough flying time, about 2hrs with extra batteries I was ready to record my first game. Being a photographer hobbyist for over 10 years with over 100,000 pictures taken I hate myself for not buying a drone 10 years ago. Wow was the first think that came to mind when I started editing the videos. The image quality, stability, zoom and 90-degree downward angle was the best. I was able to see my son’s football game from an angle never seen before. The video was good I was getting calls from other teams to record their games. Unfortunately, I do this as a hobby and only for my son’s team. I referred them all to Holy Stone HS720 Foldable GPS Drone with 4K UHD Camera and so should you. At first, I was concerned flying a drone at a football game with so man people around I did not want the drone to fall on someone. When I started flying over the field, I was able to position myself at a perfect angle and left the drone hover at the exact same spot for the life of the battery. The only drawback was the battery life which was really 20 minutes as the drone returns home when the battery gets to 20 mins. Every time you change the battery you must resync the controller, compass, and phone which you lose time precious time during a football game. I solved this issue by purchasing two drones since the price is so slow for what you get out of the unit and 10 extra batteries for a total of $1,300 which is what a video recorded would charge for a season but from the ground. Drone recorded it was $3,500. Talk about a return on investment and I also use the drone for personal use. It helps me notice that I had some shingles missing on my roof which could have caused water damage many times over the cost of this drone. In short this is the best investment I have ever done in video photography ever. I would give Holystone 10 stars. This is not a self promotion for Holystone I am a real customer with real-life use case and story. Take the plug you will not regret it. The only caveat, if you are in the Dallas areas and we meet at a football, I get airspace priority over the game.

I've had this drone for about 2 weeks and have some experience with them. In terms of value, this is a great buy and I'm very happy with it. The EIS function works great and the 4K images are beautiful. There is no gimbal like the higher end drones. That doesn't matter to me but you will notice it slightly when the drone turns or shifts position. My main function is flying for fun and not commercial photography or movie making so consider your purpose. Of course, you will pay a lot more for a 4K gimbal and they will be much more sensitive when bumped. Flying is great. One feature that drove me to this drone was the controller. It has a built in display with battery levels, GPS and signal strength. It can take a photo or video just using controller buttons and that means if you want to just do a quick flight, you are good to go without the phone. It means you can launch quick. I like the unlock/lock button and the one button takeoff. The auto land works but I think it may actually follow the phone. I haven't tested this yet but I noticed on return if I've backed up on the deck, the drone backs up when coming in and I have to adjust as it lands. If it did follow the phone GPS signal on auto return, that would be pretty cool. Or it could just be a minor variance in return location. Getting within a few feet is pretty typical for a return to home feature. This unit uses the Ophelia Go app. There are a few critical reviews of the app and it rates a +-3 in the store. Most of these are related to having issues connecting to the drone. What I've determined is that it's dependent on the phone settings. *MAKE SURE* you have the 'Wifi Preferences' > 'auto-switch to mobile data' setting turned OFF! I tested and that seems to be the setting that is causing the issues. It makes sense if you think about it as the drone will not be providing an internet connection so the phone will cut it off. That would not be the fault of the app. Overall, I like the app. It's pretty simple and easy to use without the 10 pages of disclaimers like in the DJY Fly app. 3 clicks and you are in and the rest is completely intuitive. One feature I was delighted to find was a digital zoom. It's a little small to use but really handy to be able to get a little closer to your subject. It's not always possible to fly closer safely so that's really valuable. One app feature that did scare me a bit was the tapfly. This is where you tap and click on a map for where you want the drone to go and it then follows that flight plan. I 'believe' it actually downloads it into the drone after you hit submit. I had one experience with this where I had the wrong directions in and the drone did indeed do what I told it to do. The problem was I couldn't get the controller to cancel it. Perhaps the app was needed to do cancel or it's not possible but I will be staying away from that until I understand it more. The drone itself is build solid and very strong. I did have one minor issue with my camera continuing to move after I let up the button. After a bit of troubleshooting it appears to have been in the controller and all I can say is that Holystone support was incredible. They worked with me over email to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Every time I sent an email, I got a response within hours. I always got follow up emails signed with a persons name (no form emails) and in the end they took care of the issue for me. I'm really impressed with that level of personalized service in this age. It's made me a believer in the brand as well as this specific product.

11-28-2024: I am updating from 3-stars to 4-stars after my first rating specifically due to Holy Stones (HS) Customer Service. After my initial inquiry with HS about my lost drone, HS decided there was nothing they could do to rectify the situation, which I respected. Later, I was corresponding with HS on a seperate promotion with a different representative, when they asked me again how my drone was working so far, and I informed them again that I really liked the drone, but the Flyaway put a damper on my feelings for HS and this particular model. After that conversation, they changed their first determination, and decided to replace my drone. I was very surprised by this, but so very appreciative. Their customer service folks were very nice (both times) and I could tell they wanted to fix the situation, and they did. I would give them a full 5-stars, but the original Fly-Away is still a mystery. I believe this can happen to any drone and/or pilot, but ultimately it shouldn't happen. So 4 stars for good product and good customer service. Original Review; After alot of research, this was the first Drone we ever purchased. The POSITIVES about this drone are the price for starters. It came with a very nice, and sturdy carrying case, and 2 batteries, which all were positives in my book. It is relatively easy to launch, and the controls respond very well (when they are responding). The biggest NEGATIVE I would say is the Fly Off that occurred on its last flight, and the reason I only gave 3 stars. I had been flying this Drone for 10 months, and was starting to really get the hang of it, but one day was collecting video over some restoration work being done. The weather was good, little to no wind, it was flying only 100 to 200 feet from the controller, and 100 feet off the ground with clear line of sight, and no other obstructions around. The Drone then started responding erratically with small commands, and then started spinning in circles that grew larger and larger, and then ZOOM, it flew off over the river we were working near, and crashed in some very thick woods across the River. As soon as the Drone started acting erratically, the "Return to Home" was initiated, but did not respond to the command. We searched for hours in thick brush, but it was never recovered. I contacted the company for help. They were responsive, and had me provide all the details of my flight that day, but after a short review, decided there was nothing they were going to do to rectify the situation. I strongly believe this was not pilot error, as no flight modes were selected that might have caused this behavior, (such as orbit). There was little to no wind, clear line of sight with short range. I would like to purchase this Drone again, but I am too afraid of another Fly off.

First time drone flyer. I am 43 yrs old and decided to get into drone flying to help document my adventures and help me explore some areas I just cant get to. I explore the mojave desert and wanted to be able to look over hills and fly up to mines to help me decide if it was worth the hike. I was a little nervous about flying a drone for the first time because I knew nothing about them. I knew getting a "cheap kids toy" wasnt going to teach me much so I decided to try this one. If you want to learn to fly drones spend the money to buy this one before you spend the money on an advanced model. If you dont want to learn and advance to better drones...just buy the cheap toys they sell. If you are an experienced drone flyer who knows alot about drones, this drone is probably not for you. It is far from a professional drone. I wanted a few things from my first drone. I wanted to fly high and far. I wanted to fly so far that I couldnt see the drone in eye sight and still be able to fly and come home without problems. This drone has proved itself in that area. However I must tell you this...I got this drone to about 2500 ft away and the signal started to cut in and out even though there were no obstructions between me and the drone. Not a big deal since I am using this drone to learn. Also, when the drone was not "insight" of the controler I lost control. Whuch means going around hills in little canyons and such didnt work well. Also, this drone will fly decent in light wind but the higher you go, the further you go...if the wind picks up you may have a problem. I found this out in the desert where the wind can pick up instantly. I had a hard time bringing the drone home once the wind started blowing. It struggled and even blew backwards a few times but eventually I got it home. I am happy I got this drone, It is very well built and a great drone to practice with. First time drone flyers, I encourage you to get it. It was a good purchase for me. If you really want to get into drone flying and dont have experience already, I suggest you buy this drone before you drop 2k on a professional model. This is a good drone to practice with and isnt one of those cheap toys you can get to fly around your house to chase your pets. You will get alot of satification out of this drone expecially when you fly high and far from where you are. Its fun. Consider this drone the prerequset class before you take the advanced class. I recommend it. One thing that doesnt impress me is the length of the batteries and how long it takes to charge them. They dont last long...especially if you are recording. Once the battery on the drone gets to 50% the drone is limited on hight and distance. Just something to think about. If you take this drone out to the middle of nowhere...like I do. Remember, to choose your flight time wisely because once the batteries are dead...your done. And 50% means you are limited on your flight too. There is no quick charge to these batteries either. I am giving this drone 5 stars because for what I wanted, It is doing. I recommend buying this drone if you are new to drone flying like I am.

I have no experience flying drones. Never flown one, and don't really know anyone who has one. But I've always thought they were cool. Well, on a whim, this was a Christmas present this year. And, I've been very happy with this purchase. I've not had too much flight time yet (still waiting for better weather), but here are my first impressions. Packaging is quality. The provided case fits all the pieces well (drone, controller, batteries, miscellaneous) plus room for my phone. (FYI: I am using a Samsung Galaxy A50 with no SIM card exclusively for this drone. We had an extra one in the house and this then won't tie up my personal phone while I'm flying). The included set of props is a nice inclusion, and the battery charger is small and doesn't take up a lot of room The build on everything seems solid and well put together. Extending the arms on the drone is smooth, and there is a firm "click" when fully extended. Collapsing the drone after flight is just as smooth. The controller is plastic, but moving pieces (antennae, phone holder, grips) have firm movements and feel tight and don't move around when using. This drone is very easy to use. Instructions are simple and generally intuitive. I did watch some online reviews of this drone prior to purchasing so I did have some general understanding of the set up and controls prior to my first use. I definitely recommend talking the time to familiarize yourself in this way before your first flight. Flight Prep is straight forward, including connecting you phone to the drove via WiFi, as well calibrating the drone's magnetic compass. Automated take off and landing makes getting into the air and back on the ground simple. In slow/tripod mode, the drone is very stable and easy to control. Speed is limited and provides an easy flight. Video is very stable, even with mild winds. The "image stabilization" is very effective, and I notice no wind or rotor vibration in the small number of videos I've shot to date. I have not tested the limits of altitude or range at this point, and I've not drained the batteries to the point where the drone has automatically returned home. I have charged both batteries 3 times with no issues, and I've flown 20+ minutes on a charge and still show 50% charge. I'm not sure what the system has for buffers for a return flight, but I assume it's conservative to insure enough charge to get back to the origin and safely land. I only have a few negatives at this point: 1) The phone mount on the controller is positioned in a way that it impedes easily using the buttons and switches on the shoulders of the controller. It may be less of an issue if you have a smaller phone, but I think the A50 I use is relatively standard from a size perspective. 2) The documentation / user manual could be better. It gives you enough to get you in the air and using the drone, but leave gaps. For example, you have the ability to turn the "beginner" mode off, so that you have full access to all limit controls, such as altitude, distance, orbit distance, etc. But it doesn't do a good job of explaining what the settings do when you change them. It takes a bit of practice figuring out the optimal setting for what you are trying to do, and this can be frustrating when your drone is 200 ft in the air and it won't do what you want it to do. 3) This may be overly picky, but the batteries do no charge simultaneously. So while the charger has two charging ports (one for each battery) they charge sequentially, and the second won't charge until the first is complete. With each battery taking as much as 5 hours to charge from a depleted state, plan on this being an "overnight" task. This could be a limitation associated with these batteries and a way to improve safety, but... So, I would definitely support purchasing this if you've never had a drone before and are interested in getting into the hobby without too much of an initial expense. Granted, I've nothing to compare this one to, but I am having fun with it (and I didn't crash it on my first flight), and for me, right now, that's all I was looking for!

Well, what can I say about this drone. The drone flew great for about fifteen minutes. For about fifteen minutes, I was truly happy with this purchase. It was a birthday gift for me to me😅. Due to heavy winds lately and time constraints work, and all that good stuff. I did not get a chance to actually fly the drone till today. There was a slight sea breeze, nothing out of the ordinary. For my first drone, this was actually a really good drone had good picture quality, really responsive on the controls super simple to fly. Very user of friendly. I had it hovering about thirty to forty meters off the ground.And then it just went straight into the ground. Initially, nothing really popped out at me. Till I really took a really close look, and I noticed that one of the small screws that held the propellers in place was missing. Each propeller is held in place by two small screws. Since one screw fell off, it was easy to determine its sudden nose dive into the sand. Is there a result of the kamakazi dive into the sand I was not turn able to turn off the drone, had to remove th battery and one of the propeller arms broke redering it completely useless on its inaugural flight.... put the battery back in and it will not turn on at all it is utterly useless. Again, This was my first drone, which means it never dawned on me to check every screw to make sure that it was tight. Which leads me to believe that this is just poor quality control by the manufacturer. 1 little screw. In final... good drone, easy to use responsive. Inexpensive, really good Video quality, picture quality is okay, for a beginner, I think it would be worth it. Just make sure you check every single screw before you fly (the manufacturer does not!) My husband wanted a drone and so began my search to find the right one for him. He wanted one that takes good pictures/videos, but did not want to spend too much for one when he has never done this before and wanted to make sure he would like it! Spent a lot of hours reading reviews, watching You Tube Videos, and decided Holy Stone was the brand, and went with the HS720E for the Electronic Image Stabilizer because my husband's hands can be a little shaky. Perfect choice! Pictures are amazing, relatively easy for a newbie, and really like the Ophelia GO app that Holy Stone uses. This one comes with 2 batteries (which is a minimal must IMO), case is very nice. We ordered landing gear and prop guards, a landing pad & 128 GB micro SD card (the largest size it takes) and are pleased with all of the purchases. When he went up the first time, seemed to get out a few meters, then hover. After a few minutes and input from both sons, realized we were in beginner mode on the app. Shut that off and everything was great. Brakes well, very responsive, did well in wind, even at higher levels. Every question we had ended up being a new user lesson and not an issue with the drone. Can highly recommend this drone. I see a lot of fun in the future with this drone. Really amazing what they can do. Because this one exceeds the 250g weight, you do need to get the Remote ID Module. But you just call Holy Stone and they take care of that for you, no charge, and we had ours in 3 business days. HOLY STONE customer service is quite impressive. Contacted me after it shipped, made sure we were satisfied, questioned if there was anything else we needed help with. We couldn't be happier with the purchase!

This drone is fairly well produced for this price class item. There are a few glaring items buyers must me aware of. This product does NOT include a basic TF memory card. It also needs to have a smart phone capable of receiving a 5 gigahertz WIFI signal. It also does not include the WALL stepdown USB transformer. The most glaring problem is that this unit WILL NOT even store video OR PICTURES on the TRANSFLASH card without being linked to a smartphone. Simply stated the internal me or card will not store anything only using the remote control console using it stand alone without a phone. Very bad point! The drone itself is user friendly, and of decent quality. But for 335 bucks this company should include the wall step down USB TRANSFORMER and a basic compatible TF memory card. I fault myself for being uneducated on the phone part. I should have educated myself before buying ANY DRONE. I am middle aged and have extensive RC HELICOPTER experience. Once I purchase a brand new dual band 5 ghz capable WiFi smart phone,this drone most likely will give me hours of quality 4k movies and digital pictures. UPDATE ON 4/4/21 Hers yet another comment on this companies drones...THEY ARE NOT GOOD......Here is why.... the drone WILL NOT take pictures or VIDEOS when using the TF card with the Hand CONTROLLER AT all. Then a BIGGER problem...using a smart phone somehow the WiFi signal to do a 360 is LOST after drone gets 30 feet away.??????? It will acceleate, hover, side manuever . but not rotate at all!!!! Turn said phone off and VOILA! drone returns to full function. YES it does take good high definition pictures and videos to the PHONE. I am profoundly annoyed with a drone that costs 330 dollars. It has no noteworthy thing to say. unless you can SEE the drone visually it is virtually a CHILDS class TOY. without a phone, and the drone NOT responding after 30 ft, this was a large waste of money and effort. I cannot use it in ANY fashion other than line of sight and never use it downrange other than in LARGE OPEN FIELDS. i WILL NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT OR from this company again.

This is a quality drone, well made and easy to use. I found it ideal for my first experience with owning a drone. The documentation is good and the software works well. I had no trouble getting it airborne, flying it around and using the camera. I found it to be very good quality for the price - I was quite impressed. The camera, at 4K, isn’t as good as I had hoped for, but it is good enough. All in all - I’m very happy with the purchase.

Incredible value for money considering the features, my main shopping point was the follow me feature. Set up was easy once you get past the 5Hr battery charge cycle, so far this would be my only gripe. HS720E ships with two batteries & while the charger can doc two only 1 charges while the other sits on standby waiting for the first to finish. Unit does not ship with the 5v 2A plug so initially I plugged the charger with supplied lead into the PC – that’s useless, so after 6 Hrs I changed to the IOS or Android plug I have and away we go, at a claimed 26 minutes each - that's amazing. Packaging is impressive too compartments keeping things tight and it’s clear on look alone the carry case can take a few bumps. The supplied Instruction book in multiple languages very well written and presented, font on the light small side for my old eyes but fortunately when unit is connected to your phone there is access to video tutorials; I suggest a combination of reading and videos. Getting up in the air took me 3 minutes to figure out that you first unlock the motors then hit the auto take off & hover, this is a GREAT feature as once landed motors lock to prevent accidental take-off, putting the small remote down last thing you need is this taking off in any direction – more so if you had the high speed engaged! – it can get up an boogie for sure… I’m glad I had it on slow! Of which is a great speed from the two available for learning, yes I hit the fence, TWICE… , arm folded in BUT no damage!! WOW – Unit is well constructed, looks and feels solid, at just under 500g motors are quite and keep this thing stable, I had some wind at 31 Celsius and took it up to 8 Mtrs but it’s like a frozen moment, sits there looking at you… and Sony Image stabilisation incredible… and I love the underside landing light.. I’m yet to hit the park for my big test flight and play with features, Follow me, Orbit and GPS tap way points but so far I’m impressed, it’s clear a lot of people and thought went in to this package, well done Holy Stone – at this price point it’s hard to look past & suggest your hardest decision will be comparing against which HS model you choose! as opposed to another brand!! As a beginner I wanted the Follow me, 4K, & long flight time and while there’s no obstacle avoidance on this model, a DJI was just NOT in my budget for the latter three. At this price & this stage of my life, if I take it up and through beginner error loose or bust it up yes I’ll be pissed for a few weeks BUT, if I did the same on a DJI!!! – I’d be pissed every time I see a drone for the rest of my life… for me the HS720E was an easy choice and no brainer..
