For reference, 14 karat gold, a higher gold content would have been easier. Quick history, the ring(s) have been on my finger going on 4 decades, and 4 decades ago I weighed a little (OK, A LOT!) less than I weigh now. So, the ring would not even turn on my finger. Picture 1 is my hand after 3 days, and the indentation is obvious; the minor cut is where the blade slipped. Worth it to get it off. The ring is actually two rings soldered together. I wanted something bigger than one small band. You can get an idea of the ring size from the picture with a quarter for reference. A wide complicated cut. I would not have been able to do this by myself, had the area to cut through been smaller, then maybe. My wife had to help me. On the cut picture, we did not know that it was almost done and started a new cut that was easier to get to. The second cut was under 5 minutes. The entire process took about 30 minutes, only because my finger is so fat we could not keep a grip on the ring with the cutter.
