Pacific Rim (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray) Review: A treat for fans of the genre. - A great many reviews have already been submitted here, so suffice to say that I found this film to be nothing short of excellent throughout. I am also an ardent follower of the Godzilla flicks (with the exception of the last Hollywood mutilation), especially the Millenium Series, and of course the Transformers/ Battleship flicks...even the Avengers movie with the giant mechanoid stolen straight from the Power Rangers 'Serpentera' robot. Take it as it is, switch off your credibility control, and enjoy the massive visual feast that it's meant to be, strung together with a thin, hackneyed storyline...but who seriously pays for storyline in a monsterthon? Strong performances from all of the cast, brilliantly directed, and just when you think the fight scenes can't get any better, they do. Heartwarming to see the makers giving credit to Ray Harryhausen and I. Honda at the end of the credits. A 3D 'must-see', and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for fans of monster movies. Those that consider themselves as serious movie-goers, or are looking for realism and a convoluted storyline will find themselves feeling like they're in the wrong front room. Buy it! Review: So bad its rather quite good - This film is so bad it is actually good, if that makes sense! The acting is pretty bad, even Idris Elba is lacking somewhat, and the dialogue is also rather poor, i have seen better scripts in soap operas. It is also very predictable but it is also rather amusing, very entertaining and extremely watchable, despite its lacklustre nature. Big robots, big monsters, big bangs and cities laid to waste, brilliant, though i thought the end was a bit of a let down, it was all special effects and no substance, however i am glad i watched this one, though why a sequel is planned is beyond me, one is more than enough. That being said though, if you have desertcart Prime, it is free to watch, so watch it if you have prime otherwise take the risk and pay a few quid to see it.

Forgive the lengthy exposiyion at the beginning and hang on and watch a thorougly enjoyable film.
A fun last half made up for an understandably rushed beginning that nearly had me stop watching the film. Admittedly, a lot had to be explained and I wonder if the director was forced by the studio to do the lengthy prologue - maybe the director had the intention to tell us about why machines operated by humans were fighting huge monsters during the story in sort of flash backs but was not allowed to as the studios seem to assume that we are stupid and have to be told everything quickly or we will lose interest? maybe not, but the vast "exposition" nearly lost me and that would have been a pity as it turned into a good film). Anyway, I loved the fighting, hated most of the characters at least until the very end, and was amazed by the special effects. I may be wrong but I almost sensed that the Jauger were a tribute to "Optimus Prime" the huge robot from Fallout 3; and that isn't a bad thing. An enjoyable 2 hours and I certainly didn't feel I had wasted my time watching it.

a fine example of pure popcorn movie magic.
I love this film! as a kid who grew up with 50's sci fi, Godzilla, star wars and transformers moving into mechs was a natural progression for me...and this is the mother of all mech movies! it's such a refreshing thing to find a movie that isn't a reboot, a toy adaptation or over burdened with pointless distractions...but this film is pure popcorn movie magic at its finest! it makes no apologies for what it is...vehicle for truly huge epic set piece battles between big mechs and even bigger monsters, it sets up the lore early, and then sets about the business of delivering the action right out of the blocks with such glorious enthusiasm and energy!. this is no deep intellectual movie...it isn't ment to be, it's ment to be a hugely entertaining ride! And it delivers!. in an era where all to often movies and those that make them feel they need to carry a message in order to justify themselves... Pacific Rim retains its focus on one thing and one thing only... BEING FUN!.

This Is Simple Awesome
Well I had read the reviews on this so was looking forward to watching it. Wow I was not disappointed, this is full of action, the biggest robots/ monsters I have ever seen in a film and wonder how they made this, and how much it must of cost. No need to go into the story as many others have, so I will review just the 3D which is simple Amazing from the Depth to the Feel of how it appeared out of the TV. A lot of 3D films are not always shot in 3D, but done after, but there is no doubt this was, you feel as if you are in the film all the way through, if my TV was any bigger the 46inch I would of been, be warned its so good on the eye in 3D that it can at times get to your eyes, maybe a slight break during the film may help this, as the action and the 3D takes your breath away. Buy you will not be disappointed if you like action with massive Robots/ Monsters from start to finish. All the acting is also fist class.

Children enjoyed it...
I for one watch very little TV or movies nowadays. I personally spend that time reading a book in my room in peace. Enough of boring old me. Not one to let my monotonous life beleaguer my offspring. I let them watch whatever they fancy within reason of course. I'd still prefer it, if they read books like I do till the late hours of the night. But, I guess I'm just different to the norm. Anyway, I read the reviews and it sounded like a Godzilla, Power Rangers hybrid. So, I brought it for my boys. My younger lad only watches Scooby Doo, Power Rangers and Tom and Jerry. So, it was upto my elder boy to lay judge on this bedlam. Well, after the credits rolled on, they both said they enjoyed it. They both agreed that it was very enjoyable and my elder preferred it to Transformers. I guess that means he enjoyed it and I asked him what score he would give it out of five, his protestations said five, so hence I give it five stars. Not one to argue with children as they are the future, so that is the verdict of my progeny.

Pacific Rim is basically like a more adult Power Rangers meets Godzilla
Would give 3.5 stars if I could. Was a decent film and worth the watch. However, if you're not into giant robots and cheesy dialogue, this movie might not be for you. Pacific Rim is basically like a more adult Power Rangers meets Godzilla. Giant robots fighting giant monsters. This is right up my alley, and with the epic fight scenes and incredible visuals, I can happily overlook the mediocre acting and terrible accent on the "English" mathematician. This movie certainly caters to its target audience, and I enjoyed it. However, I would not recommend it to everybody. Poor acting, cliche scripting and plot holes aplenty prevent this movie from being something truly great. For fans of the mecha genre though, I say go for it.

It's just cool.
The entire film just repeatedly asks "what's the coolest thing we could do here" and just does it. It's sincere and focused enough that it works, and it sells every moment. It's just cool.

Compra recomendada.

One of the coolest Monster movies!!!
This is one of the coolest monster movies in years. This movie is directed by the visionary director, Guillermo Del torro (HellBoy, Blade 2). The movie has tons of special effects, visual effects and monster sets that will take your breath away and is a lot bigger than Transformers.Every giant robot has been designed uniquely suiting to the different countries. Excellent detailing has been taken care for the animated Robots and the Kaiju monsters. Charlie Hunnam, Idris elba give some sparkling performances in the film and some comic relief from actors Charlie day, Burn Gorman and Ron Perlman. As for the DVD package it has two DVDs inside; One has the movie itself which is a DVD-9 disc and the other disc which is a DVD-5 contains a host of special features including the making of the film and lots more. The movie disc packs an excellent Audio/Video and has a great quality ideal for home theatre applications. Thanks to Amazon for the great packing and extremely fast delivery as always!!Good work Amazon!!!
