However, the CT 1 needs phantom power to operate, which prevents that power moving further along to the mic so it will not be powered. The CT 1 is used for low gain dynamic microphones to negate the need to increase gain on the mixer itself which arises feedback. It does an excellent job in that role. I have a sm58 mic plugged into a pioneer djm s9 but the mixer preamp is not great.** A: Yes, they’ll need phantom power to boost the signal - I’m using the cheapest version with a behringer usb mixer and I don’t think it offers more than around 18v of phantom power but it works great.
