Midori 13800006 Notebook, MD Notebook, Paperback, Horizontal Ruled

Was interested in the notebook since a lot of people and reviews stated it was as good quality as ever. I was impressed with it and using a new Lamy safari, it retained the fountain pen ink well as expected. No ghosting, no feathering. I am with the aesthetic of clean simplicity. We could just decorate it as we please. Its smooth to the touch and the pen just glides on pages. I am so glad it is the right A6 size with the right 5mm line ruled pages. Easy to carry around with my new folio.

The quality of the paper is superb. My fountain pen glides so smoothly across the page and it’s a pleasant experience writing in this journal. The notebook lays flat so you don’t have to struggle with keeping it open. It comes with a sticker that says “IDEA” and “DIARY”, along with label sheet to mark when you started the journal and when you finished it. The size is A6, which is a pocket notebook. Alas, I thought this was a A5 notebook which is bigger than a pocket notebook size, so I was surprised when I received it. (I was like, why is this so small?!) The pages have a dividing line in the middle halfway down the page, so you can divide the journal into smaller bits if you like. The paper quality is amazing, which are not super thick and yet it doesn’t bleed through so you can write in both front and back of the page without seeing the ink too much. I might order this brand again if I can find a bigger size (A5) for journaling purposes. This A6 size is perfect for short journal entries or jotting down quick ideas. I’m going to guess there are 176 pages in this notebook, since it doesn’t look super thin volume wise. ( and there is a number 176 with Japanese word that I don’t know how to read in the back cover) I highly recommend this notebook to all who are looking for a small pocket notebook to write in, especially with a fountain pen!

These notebooks are a joy to use and to also read later. They’re minimalist, compact, and the paper quality lets my extra fine nibs glide over them like a hot knife cutting butter, minus the cutting part. Highly recommend for someone trying out a top notch paper at an incredibly affordable price.

Great quality paper. Paper is significantly thicker than any other paper and will not show any writing on the other side of the page. Great for fountain pens, it has no bleeding or ghosting.

I am a heavy journaler who uses very juicy fountain pens so as you can imagine I am extremely finicky about notebooks. The paper quality in these is absolutely lovely with very little ghosting and no bleed-through or feathering, the line spacing is my preferred 7 mm, and the binding style allows them to lie perfectly flat while remaining durable. If I had any tiny critique it's that I would love if the pages were numbered (not the end of the world to number them myself) and I would personally prefer not to have the heavier line in the center of the page because I use these for long form journaling and don't need it to divide up my pages (but it's not that big of a deal to just ignore it). The covers are a fairly stiff plain cardstock which can be decorated but I prefer to use these in my A6 size fabric covers from Hobonichi, in which they fit perfectly. The paper quality and elegantly simple form factor make them a very good buy for the price.
