Sharpened my chain like new in 20 minutes!
I am not a professional but have been using chainsaws since I was 12 years old gathering wood for my family to heat our house. Now at 41 years old I use a chainsaw regularly to cut logs into various shapes for woodturning.I have struggled knowing the best way to sharpen a chain most of my life but do recognize the difference between a properly sharpened chain, a new chain, and a dull chain. After watching a handful of video reviews and instructional videos I was easily able to use this system and understand its value as a 2-in-1. It is also very important to assure the chain is at the correct tension and I found it helpful to lock the chain and sharpen three or four teeth then unlock it and move to the next batch. I was able to sharpen my poulan pro 20-in bar 72 tooth chain in right around 20 minutes. The results are amazing! I didn't realize I needed to do both actions to properly sharpen a chain and this tool does them at the same time.Clamping the bar in a bench vise greatly enhances your ability to easily use this tool with both hands. It is somewhat challenging to do with one hand and much less effective. I will never use any other sharpening system as long as I live.

Works great, worth the price
This tool magically files down the raker tooth at the same time you sharpen the cutting tooth. Up until recently, I had underestimated the effect of a proud raker tooth. It's tricky to file a raker tooth free handed or even with a Dremel, but this file holder works great.I also like the Stihl files. They seem to cut better than the Oregon files I usually use.

Great Product
I just used this sharpener and it's amazing and very easy to use. I bought a brand new chain for my Poulan Pro 20" and it worked really well. After I cut a bunch of small trees and brush with it I tried to cut a bigger tree and I started to smell burning wood. I took my saw back to the building and used this sharpener on it. No joke, it was sharper than before. I burned right through the tree. The chips from the cut were long and stringy, indicating a a sharp chain. The best part is it only took about 10 minutes to sharpen, and that includes learning how to use it.This was worth the price IMO. It's a great device. Also the files that come with it are very high quality. I could see the steel changing shape as I moved the file through the teeth. I watched a couple review videos on youtube before I bought this sharpener, one was Wranglerstar and the other was Steve's Small Engine Saloon. If you are having any trouble figuring out how this sharpener works I recommend watching either of those guys.

A must have tool
I bought a new MS-500i chainsaw. It’s a monster. After a few days I had dulled the blade (my fault). I sharpened it with this tool 91 cutting teeth. Was easy and now the saw cuts like a monster again. But watch a YouTube video about how to sharpen your chain properly with this device. Way less effort than I had expended before with better results. It cuts the depth gauge at the same time to the proper depth. I had 5 chains sharpened by my local dealer and they didn’t touch the depth gauges. They didn’t cut worth a c…p.

It works!
This is a Stihl product, not a knock off look alike. This product may cost a little more but the quality is excellant. The files are replaceable and easliy removeable from the casing. I bought a knock off look-alike and there was definitely a quality differance. I have been cutting wood for 40 years and never could get the hang of sharpening with a file by hand. This Stihl sharpener changed that. I couldn't believe how easily I could sharpen the chain using this sharpener. Now instead of taking 3 chains to the woods, I can just resharpen one chain right on the saw. That's worth any extra money that this sharpener costs. Highly recommend this product. Pay the extra money and get the brand name Stihl.

A must have tool for anyone who is not a professional logger
I have sharpend my chains freehand since 1982 and in that time have become quite good at the task. That being said it takes most people, myself included, many years to do a good job.To my great surprise, this jig does an outstanding job and allows a new user to easily make a chain sharper than your local saw shop. The beauty of the thing is that the depth gauge is lowered at the precise level it should by a flat file. The unique shape of the holder makes it easy to file the chains teeth razor sharp, at the proper angle, with the round file, tooth after tooth. The instructions that come with jig were less than clear to me but there are several YouTube videos that make it obvious and easy to use.Don’t be put of by the strange appearance of the tool like I was, just try it. More than anything I hate to admit that I can make the chain sharper with this weird looking tool than I can by freehand filing. If you are a logger by profession then you can probably do as well freehand but 99% of us will not be able to beat it.
