Heat Set Insert Tip for M3 with 30 M3 Inserts - 3D Printing Accessories Compatible with Hakko FX-888D and Weller SP40NUS Irons, Soldering Iron Tips for Threaded Inserts

Finally had a chance to try out the new Hakko M3 tip and inserts. For a beginner, I’m pretty happy how the tests are coming out. I grabbed a scrap 3D printed part to get some practice. The seller's videos really helped out. Drilled a 3.55 mm (9/64”) hole (I didn’t print in the hole I was testing, just drilled it instead) That turned out to be a really good hole size. Insert went right in, but still grabbed. I didn’t debur the hole or anything and the outer melted edge was flush to the piece. Was really easy and I have a lot of confidence to start designing this into my parts. Tip was a perfect fit for my Hakko FX888D.

I already had a Hakko soldering iron so the tip fit perfect!!! After installing the tip into my iron the inserts went in like butter. Just printed a new housing for Big Tree Tek display and these inserts worked flawlessly. Very happy.

I bought these to use when assembling a "Hero ME Gen 6" fan shroud for a Creality Ender 3 printer. The inserts are just the right size for that, and the included tip makes it easier to set the tips correctly than using the pointed end of a normal soldering iron. I even bought the appropriate Weller iron so that I could use this insert (since it would not work with my ancient RadioShack iron.)

I first heard about these heat seatable threaded fittings from my 3D printing hobby. Now I'm trying my hand with low power led lasers and working with 1/8" acrylic to make mounting brackets for single board computers. This "kit" was reasonably priced and the included soldering iron tip worked perfectly! I am only interested in the 3mm size now so this was ideal for me. The included videos were brief but told the story and were helpful. Well Done!

Purchase this for the Heat-Set Insert, not the M3 Inserts, unless you would like smaller ones. The diameter of these inserts is 4.6mm, not the 5mm I was expecting.The "Heat Set Insert Tip" is excellent and fits my Hakko FX-888D perfectly, I kind of wish I had purchased the set of Heat-Set Inserts and skipped the M3 inserts.It also comes with a 3D-printed tray to hold the insert, which is kind of useless as it doesn't close.

I purchased this to add metal threads to some of my 3D printed projects. I originally thought I would have to install these threads using the normal soldering iron tip that my iron has, but the included attachment actually fit onto my soldering iron just fine. It slides around a bit, which leads me to believe it was made for a slightly different soldering iron. It is definitely usable though, and I haven't had any issues with it. 5/5

works as advertised, no issues at all. Super easy to use, just press in and tilt as needed for alignment/ depth, and easy release. simple design, simple to use.

I had no problem using the provided tip with my cheapo $16 soldering iron that I also got off Amazon. Flawless installation the first time and the inset nuts work as expected.
