Review: ... JUST a phone! No complications ... No contracts! - Okay, this review is for people who are looking for JUST a phone! This flip phone has no internet and doesn't even have the capability for it so if that is a must then you can stop reading here and move on. (Lively DOES make a simple smart-phone but I never used it so I cannot comment on any of its features or functionality.) HOWEVER, if you are looking to have a phone just to keep in contact with others through a call or a simple text or for an emergency situation ... THIS is your phone! I was skeptical at first but after quite a few years and having switched over myself, my husband, AND my son I think I speak for my whole family in saying that this is a great product! My family has computers and tablets and smart TVs all over the house and we use them frequently ... but all we really needed out of a cell phone was the phone part. Going somewhere and paying potentially THOUSANDS of dollars for a phone seemed silly so after looking around and seeing TV commercials I decided to give Lively and their Jitterbug phone a chance. Not disappointed! In my area, (N.J.), we've always been with Verizon service and there didn't seem to be any difference in call quality or reception when we switched to Lively. The phone is simple and intuitive with easy menus and large, easy-to-read text. You do have the ability to store contacts, take photos and videos, block numbers, have Voicemail, set alarms, and send text messages. Since it is a flip phone, to text you have to do the old 1990's phone thing of pressing each button a few times to get the right letter ... so if you wanted the letter "C" you'd have to press the number 2 button 3 times to go from A to B to C ... if you're older you know and if you're younger you will learn quickly! ;-) The sound quality is loud and clear and the battery life will easily last all day and then you just plug it in or throw it in the charging cradle at night. The service per month is very inexpensive. For unlimited talk and text I pay around $27 per month. The phone itself is YOURS! You'll pay whatever the price is ... at the time of this review on desertcart it was $35 for the red flip ... and the phone is yours ... NO contracts, NO payments, no nothing! If your phone breaks you can EASILY get a new phone for WAY cheaper than you'd pay to have someone even look to repair your current smart phone! If your worried about having a brand new number don't be! It is VERY likely you will be able to transfer your old cell number ... or even your house landline number, if you still have one, to your new flip phone just do NOT stop your current cell service until you have transferred the number to THIS phone!!! If you DO buy this phone and want to transfer your number just have your current phone statement handy when you call to activate your new phone. Lively Customer Service is easy like Sunday morning! I don't think in all the times I called, which was mostly to activate new phones, have I ever waited on hold for longer than a minute or two. All reps that I have spoken with are polite and easy to understand. So if you want a MUCH less complicated phone ... don't need/want all that internet stuff (Which you can easily do from home on a real computer or laptop) ... want to pay LESS for the physical phone and the plan and don't want to be locked into a contract ... then THIS is your phone!!! It’s PERFECT for the seniors like my mom who mess up the phone by trying to find or fix or explore and end up messing up all the options and too complicated for seniors. **Q: Does the phone come with a charger**
A: It comes with 2 chargers: 
1) An AC cube with USB socket on top. A cable plugs into that USB socket, and the other end of the cable has a C USB plug which plugs into the side of the phone.
2) Or you can use that same AC cube and cable to plug the cable into the dock's USB C socket. And then just drop the phone into the dock and it will charge. The dock can stand on your nightstand or desk. Ours seems a more reliable dock interface than previous Jitterbug phone docks. It always seems to align perfectly when you drop in the phone.

Of course you car probably already has an USB socket. So just plug the wire into that and then 1) or 2) works just like it does in the house. There is nothing else to buy if your car has any USB socket.

**Q: does this come ready to use, complete with an assigned phone number and where do I pay the monthly bill?**
A: They can assign you a number.  Make sure, however, that it didn't belong to someone else.  When my husband used his Jitterbug to call someone, caller ID showed as some woman with a really odd name.  We could never get that issue resolved, so he was assigned a new number.  That number showed up as 'wireless caller', which wasn't satisfactory, either.  We tried three times to get his old Verizon number transported to GreatCall, but that never worked because Verizon sends a transport code that is only good for 10 minutes.  GreatCall didn't put in the transport request for 24 hours.  That's when he was assigned the number for Tryxy Bishop, for crying out loud.  I set Alexa up for him, but he hated having to ask Alexa to ask Lively to call someone.  Also, having to push the OK button multiple times for every single function was exasperating.  I finally sent the phone back to Amazon and had his old phone reactivated with Verizon.  GreatCall sets up an account and sends monthly bills, if you decide to keep the Lively Flip phone.

**Q: Can i use net10**
A: Great Call Owns Jitterbug. In fact "Lively", a BS Creation oF Great Call/Jitterbug sells the Jitterbug/Great Call devices from phones to the overpriced emergence heĺp device. Intestingly, "Jitterbug"/ Great Call charge $90plus for this exact same phone. For Lively, Its a loss leader for  Great Call phone service. Check Internet & Youtube for the many complaints about poor service, very poor English of Customer Service personel. These phones are not easy to use. Like Wow & Telikin Computers (which are the same computers), Extremely overprice outdated tech. Driven by a very small version of Linux O/S. Likewise they are Not Intuitive or easy to use. I bought one of the 22" all in one desktop PCs they sell for $1100-1500 for $250 off EBAY. it was unused, owned by a 70 year old who couldn't use it. I've had it 3plus years, hasn't been updated ONCE! What's AARP doing about these companies? Nothing, except accepting funds from them & selling them a lot of ad space in AARP Magazine.

**Q: At&t compatibility?**
A: AT&T is now 5g and you have to make sure the unlocked jitterbug is 5g as well otherwise it won’t work.  The jitterbug I purchased is 3g and won’t work. This change just happened Feb 2022.

I bought this phone as a replacement for my elderly mother whose 1st generation Greatcall Flip’s battery was dying. The hardware is almost exactly the same except for some different wording on the buttons. The software is also similar, except for placing a call. Unless you set up one touch dialing, the number of steps to just call a contact has increased vs the first generation phone. For a savvy user this is not a problem. For an elderly person that is not that into technology, that’s a problem. I don’t understand why they would make this most basic operation more complicated for a product specifically tailored to an elderly audience; this is supposed to be their area of expertise. However, we set up one touch dialing to overcome this complication. The rest of the phone is great. So one star demerit for making contact calling more complicated when not using one-touch dialing. Otherwise a great product.
