Abacus Brands Bill Nye's VR Science Kit - Kids STEM Set, Gift Ages 8-12

Got this for my grandson for Christmas and he loves it

My son got this for Christmas and I think it was his favorite thing. He did several experiments already. He love that it has VR goggles and talks to him. But you have to download and app on a phone and put them in the goggles for it to do what it is suppose to. A cartoon version of bill Nye talks to you about what to do and how it works. After the experiment is complete you can go into a classroom type thing and he explains the science behind it. I think it is great that he is learn while having fun.

Got this for my daughter. We’ve done a few of the experiments and she’s had a blast. The volcano is her favorite so far.

This kit is worth every penny. We are a family of teachers and we bought this kit to encourage our kids, ages 7 and 2, to do some hands on science with us with all of his time together during Safer at Home. We used to love to stream Bill Nye the Science Guy before disney decided to stop showing it and we were sad when it was unavailable, so we were happy to get this set of experiments for Christmas. Both kids love the experiments even though they are younger than 8. The 7 year old can grasp the concepts, but the 2 year old just loves to participate with the family. The headset has adjustable eye pieces, so it fits both kids. There are some experiments that require buying some items, but it’s totally worth it to have my 7 year old beg me to learn science all day. The VR part of this is very rewatchable: The first experiment has you fly over an erupting volcano in VR: turn around and see the helicopter!

So, the VR aspect is very cool. The VR is your smartphone, clipped into a headset. So the smartphone + headset = VR. It does not come with a true VR setup. The VR clips are short. I guess so are the experiments but would have been cool if VR clips were longer. There are many things you need to buy or have around the house that do not come with this kit. IE..alka-seltzer tabs, white flowers, dry yeast packet, etc. Would be nice if a list of such items was clearly produced at the beginning you wouldnt realize it on a rainy day when you just want to play scientist with your kid. Overall I give this 3-1/2 stars. Its cool because of VR. The experiments could be more exciting. I have owned better science kits over the years. Not bad for 40-50$

We fully intended on making this a Christmas gift, but with Thanksgiving being apart from our families this year, we decided to open this one early to enjoy over the break. I'm so glad we did! This is not our first "science kit" for kids, but it is by far the best. From the VR interaction with Bill Nye to the premium items included, this was a big hit with our children. With virtual learning and science in particular tough for them this year, this kit really helped bring some excitement back to learning from home. Thanks, Bill!

We got this for our daughter for Christmas. Upon opening it, we found various pieces were not included. I reached out to Abacus Brands customer service and they quickly responded to my issue. They responded that my missing parts issue was not one they regularly encountered. They sent a new box which had all parts included! The customer service I received was top notch! This science kit is great for all future scientists out there! I highly recommend!

Was the perfect gift for my nephew for Christmas! The VR was so much fun for him it puts you right into the science lab!

The simple VR mask was a hit: so much so that we offer a word of caution: the 8-year-old boy was so absorbed in the VR experience that he ended up with mild eye strain and headache: pace your child when using the kit!

Cute but expensive for what it is !

Great Christmas gift for the Grandchild.

This was a gift for my 10 yr old niece. She was so excited to open it. Will have to send an update on the actually product once she has opened it but as of right now I give it a 👍
