MIXC 10 Pack Seed Starter Tray, 120Cell Stater Kit with Humidity Dome Black

I purchased the 10-pack of MIXC seed starter trays with 120 cells and humidity domes for indoor seed starting for flowers, vegetables, and herbs. They assemble easily, are strong and durable, and should last for many seasons. Small and easy to transport they can easily be moved to access the best light requirements for seedlings since plants should be rotated towards their light source every several days to insure strong and straight growth. The humidity dome provides sufficient height for most seedlings and can be adjusted to create optimal moisture and airflow conditions needed for germination, providing ideal growing conditions much like a small greenhouse. The deep tray compartments hold an adequate amount of soil for starting even larger seeds and allowing for good root formation, which is easy to check through the clear plastic trays. The plant labels are convenient although I do wish they were larger and that there were more of them.I have had success using these seed starters under grow lights and on sunny windowsills, and by using seedling heat mats which greatly speed germination. I’ve also used a heating pad covered with foil to avoid getting it wet which also worked. Bottom watering is fine for large seeds but watering fine seeds with a mister keeps them in place in the soil and avoids overwatering which can cause root-rot depriving plants of oxygen resulting in the death of the plant. A moisture meter iis a great way to tell when plants need watering. I use soil especially made for seed starting since it is not as course and works better in seed starting trays. Removing the seedlings was easy using a toothpick run around the edges of the plant, then pushing up the bottom of the tray before gently pulling them out by the base of the plant to keep from damaging the delicate roots. The trays were easy to clean by soaking in hot water with a small amount of bleach which will sterilize them before using again.These seed trays are a fun and easy way to start seedlings and also introduce children to gardening. My grandchildren enjoy tracking the plants daily growth, making them a great value and worthwhile investment at only $16.99. They were well packaged, arrived in good condition and on time. Highly recommended.

This was my first purchase with this company and this type of product. My wife and I are just starting to get into indoor gardening, and we are excited to get our seeds going and plants ready for the growing season. In general, the product seemed to be well made and there were a lot more of them that came in the package than I was expecting. When I saw the picture in the ad on Amazon, I only thought that it was the one tray. But it actually came with ten of the trays. It was way more than I needed but it should last us a long time! Additionally, the quality seems to be pretty good so I imagine that you can reuse them once you have moved them into their real pots. The system seems to be pretty straightforward as far as how to use it. I don’t think that we will have a problem figuring that aspect of the process out, it even came with basic instructions and I think there is also a video on their webpage on how to use them. We are going to be planting our first seeds in the coming day or two so we will see how they work out. We are going to be planting basil, tomatoes, and cilantro. I like the ability to be able to modulate the amount of humidity that stays within the trays by using the circular disks on the top of the clear plastic lids. These dials just pop into place on the lids and each tray has its own top with disk so different types of plants can be regulated differently if you want to. Additionally, the labels are nice to have to be able to keep track of exactly what you planted and where. There are enough included in the package to use a few different times and still have some leftovers. I will provide a follow up review in the coming weeks or months once we have used the product for some time to let you know how they ended up working out for us!

Thanks to my enterprising and large cat squashing all my existing seed trays (and taking out an entire tray of cherry tomatoes in the process) in order to take advantage of the heat mat I had to purchase all new gear this year and I should probably thank him because these are so much better than what I had.I grow almost everything from seed, so it's great to be able to have individual trays for each variety especially for peppers and tomatoes. You can fit 5 on a single heat mat and they fit perfectly under the ferry-morse grow light stand.PROS- The humidity dome has a vent which allows to adjust air flow as needed when it's not quite time to expose them to the low humidity world.- Incredibly easy to put together. I love the extra tray that allows you to water from the bottom every couple of days as opposed to having to set reminders to spray the plants daily.- They're a great size and you can stack them for easy storage once the season is done.- The humidity dome and the bottom tray are very sturdyCONS- I'm not 100% on the actual seed tray cells, they're deep but they're quite small and I am worried about the ease of getting more delicately rooted seedlings out to transplant without damaging the tray or the plants.

I've got four of my trays in use currently. Haven't gotten any yield yet, but I've only recently sowed the seeds. I'll update once I've got seedlings to tell how they're turning out.The containers themselves are more resilient than my previous (jiffy brand) starter tray that never got used due to warping heavily after one day in sunlight. These containers only got a minor shrinking from being in sunlight within the greenhouse while covered. Still fully useable. Moved them to a shaded shelf to reduce the potential damage, though I plan to move them back to the top shelf when the lids are no longer needed.I love how the trays are transparent. I also like the humidity controls. I asked about these for the greenhouse earlier in the month, and decided to get them afterwards to increase my greenhouse plant numbers.My recommendation is to use these either in a shaded spot in the greenhouse, or on a shelf outside, or in a plant room indoors. Don't put them in direct sunlight inside a greenhouse because the dome will intensify the rays alongside the greenhouse panes, and could cause shrinkage of the pot cells. Uncover them if you must keep them in a sunny spot in the greenhouse, or use a good shade cloth on the greenhouse to reduce direct sunlight on the domes.Update (June 10th 2019)I've got greater success with seedlings using these trays than I did with starting them in regular pots. Here's two photos taken exactly one day apart of my cucumber seedlings. Just two days since the first seedling sprouted and we're already to the point where they'll need transplanting soon.Once again, I would highly recommend these trays.

This tray is sturdy and the perfect size for new gardeners or for gardeners who have a smaller garden. Even established gardeners can take advantage of this space saving tray.Seeds all grow at different rates and you should be planting the seeds at the right timing so they are ready to transplant outside. Once you plant the seeds, you should not take the dome off until about 50% of seeds have germinated or popped through the soil. You also shouldn’t have to water again, if you watered properly when planting, till those sprouts pop out. So this means that anything you plant in a tray should all be expected to pop through the soil at about the same time or you run the risk of overwatering or removing the dome too soon.These smaller trays will help solve all those problems and make things much easier for you. It makes planting the seeds more manageable.I do like these for my seeds that I don’t plan to plant a lot of. The domes are strong and work great too. I really am liking these far more than the larger 72 cell 20 x 10 types.

I really like the actual seedling trays and the ability to water from the bottom, but all of my lids came without vents. From the pictures and videos I believe there are supposed to be a series of holes so I can snap the vent locks in place. I went to product support and there is no way to contact the seller/manufacturer. Not worth my time to return these. Just frustrating.

I have only used two of the trays, but so far, I am happy with them!Most of it looks sturdy, though I question the cell tray's sturdiness and durability. I will update the review after I have used this more.The cell tray is bendable between the cells, which allows it to be lifted slightly to refill the bottom tray with water or to see how much water is in the tray. Because of the bendability, I have a slight question about durability, but I will find out over time. The cell tray has a hole in the bottom of each cell so that the soil can soak up the water from the bottom tray. Instead of watering each cell, one needs to ensure that water is in the bottom tray!With the humidity dome on, you can quickly tell it works with the water condensation!I have not tried starting seeds in it, but that will occur in the next few months.I would repurchase this if I ever need more seed-starting trays!

Loved these so.much I ordered a other set. Beneficial to see roots growing with clear sections. Seeds germinated quickly helpful for a bottom tray with adding water, depth is excellent plenty of room for growing seedlings, and air control on top of outer lid controls air flow. The only thing is that the lid kept coming off so I taped it and everything was excellent! Recommended

Mini serre de semis très pratique avec leurs alveoles. Le systeme couvercle avec aerateur est plutôt bien pensé. Attention par contre sur tapis chauffant çà germe vite et il faut surveiller regulièrement l'humidité. J'en racheterai sûrement parce que plus pratique pour moi que de gérer de plus grands plateaux quand plusieurs variétés en petit nombre.
