There are minimum and maximum level lines on the inside wall of the machine. I wanted a bit stronger oil, so used a bit more plant material ratio to oil. ( In the directions as to the ratios) The top has the chopper end ready to get going on the herbs, and everything is pre set to go (time and temp) but you have the option to add or subtract each, too. The machine does makes noise when grinding up the plant material on and off as it goes through the cycle... and at the end there is a continuous beep.... that let's you know it is done. I had mine on the countertop and it wasn't all that hot around it. ( Like a crock pot outer base... warm, but not dangerous to touch or any need to keep super far away from other items nearby.) Strain the oil... (the included stainless basket is a very fine material that does not let any plant material through... just the oil) ....dispose of the spent herb once every drop is pressed out... and there you go! Is everyone having this problem ?** A: The only time I had stuff come out, was when I didn't have the lid on. I just push down on it good. I've made canna butter and tincture. Neither spun out. When I clean it and run the cycle to clean with the lid not on right yep it spun out. **Q: Can you decarb full melt hash?** A: I have had good luck using unflavored terpenes to loosen up the viscosity of the concentrate. Maybe that would help? **Q: Can you use alcohol to make tinctures in this machine? I ask because I heard using everclear can ignite due to its alcohol proof?** A: Yes, absolutely! Alcohol and particularly high-proof alcohol can be used in the EdiWhip machine. Alcohol tinctures are the reason we designed a small gap between the power head and canister. I think some people either got units that maybe do not work or did not read the instructions correctly. I had no issue with the temperature I tested it and it was spot on in my unit. The value for the money on this is outstanding. Some people have been distressed with the smell of the decarbing but in actuality anyway you decarb you're going to get that smell I've found. The waste was almost non-existent it's amazing what it can do to 2 oz of weed. What I've tried so far is the tincture which it made beautifully.
