Pretty Good
I really like this one. The Lemon Cake and Cookies & Cream are my favorite flavors that are readily available - I like the birthday cake one but it's not always available. I can't have the heavy chocolate kinds as they give me migraines so I appreciate a variety of flavor options at a more affordable price and the protein content is pretty good.

One of my favorites, and will order again. Easy to chew! Flavor scale 1-5(best): 5
Here are the flavors I've tried from Pure Protein and my thoughts on them. Chocolate Peanut Butter - flavor is very mild, not much peanut butter flavor. rather chewy. Flavor scale 1-5(best): 3 Galactic Brownie - least favorite out of the bunch, really chewy, doesn't taste like a brownie at all. Flavor scale 1-5(best): 1 Lemon Cake - dessert like, doesn't taste anything like a traditional protein bar, it has a sweet taste, however the lemon flavor sticks with you for awhile. One of my favorites, and will order again. Easy to chew! Flavor scale 1-5(best): 5 Zig Zag Cake - doesn't really taste like the little Debbie zebra cakes, but its a nice try. Dessert like, you feel like its a treat more than a protein bar, no lingering after taste. Another favorite! Flavor scale 1-5(best): 5 Brookie - the top cookie layer has an odd texture, gritty and dry. Easy to chew, and no lingering taste. Flavor scale 1-5(best): 4 Sundae Cone - I don't get anything sundae cone from this, but its got a good flavor, easy to chew and overall one of the better ones out there. Flavor scale 1-5(best): 4 I've also tried the galactic brownie after microwaving it for 8-9 seconds based on a 1000w microwave. It sort of helps you chew through it, but it makes a heck of a chocolate mess, its the least favorite flavor. I hoped that it would make it easier/better to eat, sadly it didn't. I will not get this one again. The Sundae Cone, Brookie, Lemon Cake and Zig Zag I will be ordering using my Amazon subscribe and save.

Good option for a protein supplement.
This was my first time trying Pure Protein bars. Normally I get Quest, which is what I'll be using as a comparison for this review. Lemon Cake is my favorite fruit flavor, so I got the same in both brands. I have a protein bar with a glass of milk after my workouts or sometimes on rest days around lunchtime in lieu of a meal. With the packages side by side, they look similar in size, but after opening you can see the Pure Protein bar is smaller. A box of 12 was also cheaper than Quest, which is why I decided to try it. You can see the glaze is drizzled over the Quest bar while Pure Protein is completely dipped, which accounts for the added sweetness (and sugar on the nutrition label). I'd say it's almost like a sweet lemon candy, while the Quest bar is more cakey. Both are nice and light tasting - easy to eat with good lemon flavor. Both have the same amount of protein, so I guess it comes down to the other ingredients as far as what is preferable. Quest has less calories, cholesterol, calcium, potassium, and sugar, but more sodium, fiber, and carbs. I thought the Pure Protein bar would not be very satisfying or curb my hunger for long, but I didn't really notice much difference between the two in this area. Overall I give the Pure Protein 4 stars. It would be nice if it had more fiber and carbs, but I think I'll keep buying both brands and just switching between the two.

Taste fine
Not sure what some of you are complaining about in regards to flavor. These are nutrition bars, High Protein, Low Carb. NOT candybars. Price to protein to carb, these are the winner. If the price ever went up I'd move on but right now these can't be beat

They don't taste like a protein bar.
They are really good. I bought them because they were the cheapest. They're not as big, but they're the best-tasting ones I have tried so far. I'll be buying them again.

Somewhat enjoyable, but way TOO sweet tasting
I was looking for an alternative to my usual QUEST brand Cookies & Cream protein bars, mainly to have an occasional second option. I mostly use these kind of protein bars in "a pinch" when I need to go out, but my blood sugar is too low, or I'm hungry & don't have the time to cook something before doing so. I'm not very big on 'eating out' on the road. I try to keep a pretty strict diet of sorts & wouldn't touch fast food with a ten foot pole even if I was starving. So, in those cases, these protein bars generally serve the 2 hours (slightly more or less) that I might need until I can get some actual nutritional food in me. As I stated, QUEST Cookies & Cream has been my 'go to' protein bar for some time. I tried a few of their other options/flavors, but for various reasons the ones I sampled didn't make the grade. When I finally found these PURE PROTEIN ("lemon cake") bars, I was pretty enthusiastic. They exceeded the calorie intake of the QUEST bars slightly (by 10 calories) & were only 1 gram less in protein. The carbs were less (by 6 grams, but these, "lemon cake" bars, contain NO fiber, whereas the Quest has 13 grams) & the sugar of the PURE PROTIEN was only 1 gram more (with only 3 grams more of sugar alcohols). I thought "1 gram, more sugar & 3 grams more of sugar alcohols, how bad could that be!?" Well, it was actually pretty bad. Normally half a Quest bar is what I'll eat on the fly, keeping the other half in the wrapper & with me if I need any more. This (1/2 bar) is good for 1.5 - 2 hrs, for me. With the PURE PROTEIN bars I could only manage to eat 1/3 of the bar due to the excessive sweetness, in comparison to my normal bars & their sweetness level, in general. Now despite this the bars did suffice to keeping me free of any of the downsides that come with hunger for about 1 hour, or more, but I didn't carry the remaining 2/3 because the thought of having to eat any more really put me off. NOT that they taste "bad" because they don't. They are just too sweet for me. Due to this I can't speak with much confidence on the duration of time they would subside my hunger (@ 5'7 165-170lbs), but again 1/3 of a bar did maintain me for at least an 1 hour, give or take. Its a shame they are so sweet because I do enjoy them until that excessive sugar aftertaste, that burns the back of one's throat, hits me. I should end with mentioning that, though the potassium, iron & calcium content in both bars is essentially ALMOST identical, the sodium content of the QUEST bars (cookies & cream) are 160 grams greater. Which could be a plus, or minus, depending on what the user is in need of. I had these "Pure Protein Bars" ("Lemon cake") on my subscribe & save, but have since removed them & the ones that remain in my refrigerator will probably stay there a while, but they will definitely be used by me, or someone, in the future. Lastly, if you're storing your protein bars for any length of time REMEMBER most of these bars do contain oils & because of that they SHOULD BE REFRIGERATED. However, they do harden upon refrigeration so, be prepared to remove them prior to consumption for 1-2 hrs. (at least, if not 24 hrs.) so they won't be so hard to chew. I can't say I would buy these again, but if you do have a sweet tooth they might "perfect" for you.

Lemon Cake is great, packaging needs help
The product is great, the packaging, not so great. The product box was torn to pieces, the lemon bars were hot and smushed. This is what fell out of the bag when I opened it.

Good texture, decent flavor, wish for more lemon please
These are good, not as good as some of the other flavors, but still good. The texture is similar to a greek yogurt coating, except slightly lemon flavored. The inside has more of a protein bar flavor, I wish it was a bit sweeter and maybe more lemony but over all it's a good flavor, just has a bit of a protein flavor to it.

Bought it for the unusual lemon flavor, rarely found in a protein bars
Bought it for the unusual lemon flavor, rarely found in a protein bars. Is best when kept cold in the fridge. Tastes just like a lemon dessert, so it's great for cravings. Could be softer to be a 5 out of 5.
