Is it possible to take it apart to lubricate it so that it turns more smoothly?

To take it apart, you would have have to remove the center stickers to get to the screws.    Mine turns fairly well, for a Rubik’s brand puzzle.  I have lubed other puzzles, but not my Rubik’s ones.  I feel that if you pull the pieces apart a little bit, you can lube it enough to make it little easier to turn.

Does your cube rattle? Mine arrived with a slight rattle on the inside. Drives me nuts. is it defective?

No. We own several on- and off-brand cubes and none of them rattle when shaken. It sounds like one of the mechanisms around the core might have broken in transit.

Question 3

Amazon lists current Rubik’s speed cube and old version speed cube. What is the difference and why more expensive?

I have purchased 4 of the less expensive "New Version Rubik's Speed" cubes shipped from Amazon. They were all the latest magnetic version manufactured by Spin Master. They are my favorite cubes, though I own many "flagship" models by most of the top cube producers in 2022-3(with the exception of Gan. I refuse to spend that much).

I think the "Old Version" uses the wrong pictures. Years ago Rubik's teamed with Gan to make the RSC(Rubik's Speed Cube). I'm fairly certain that cube was non-magnetic and may have had stickers instead of tiles. They might be selling the old version for more money because it's rare.

I could be wrong about the "old version", but I really do like the $15 Spin Master Rubik's Magnetic Speed Cube. Not the fastest cube out there, or lightest, but a great quality magnetic for the casual cuber or beginner.

Is this cube sticker less? And if it has the stickers do they peel of easily?
