Wow, very pleasant surprise! Great drill press for the money. Well pleased

The directions for adjusting belt tension on pulleys was very difficult.

The 1st thing you need to know - is how to use a drill press, because the instructions LACK any details on how to assemble this machine other some 1 liners. On top of that, the ADD-ONs like the Laser Cross lights and the Work Light - you need to make sure you have 2 AA Batteries, because they are not included. The WORK LIGHT was NOT in the box or in the machine - so, I've made 2 trips to Lowes trying to figure out WHICH LIGHT (LED) to buy that fits. It takes a normal light bulb base (medium) - but it is NOT the smallest LED light you can buy - NOR is it the regular LED light bulb. As soon as I discover that - I'll post that here. That aspect of this drill set I purchased from Lowes due to my military discount - fails short of a 5 star rating. The LOWER hex bolt that secures the Drill Housing on the post - was not formed correctly and is rough. I had to take out and re-position it to tighten it down. Again, buying something out of CHINA - don't expect US Standards of craftsmanship. The actual parts list is LACKING. Like - I would love to know WHAT TYPE OF LED LIGHT BULB goes in this piece??? It's set up - but I'm still working on the set up before I start my project. You'll also need to buy Bolts, washers, and nuts to secure this to your bench. Plus, if you add a Cross Vise, buy extra hardware to secure that.

It would have been a good drill for the money if they used a better chuck. Mine has a large run-off (few millimeters) with bits larger that 1/4. I got a new chuck to replace, However, the original chuck is stuck just after a week or two. I am returning. it.

As a woodworker, I enjoy making interior & exterior country furniture. I have owned most of the General International woodworking tools over the years (table saw, jointer, band saw, 17" drill press....). This drill press matches the quality of the larger, floor-model tools. Operation of the unit is silky smooth - no vibration. The laser light on my unit is quite accurate. Great job General International.

Not quite as big as expected, but works well. Stroke is a little bit short, but overall a decent press for hobbies

Seems to be solidly built. Love the work light and the laser sight.

Overall, this is an excellent drill. I replaced the chuck with a keyless chuck which adds to the ease of use. Would have given 5 stars except the laser alignment diodes are powered by batteries which seems odd to me given the drill has plug in 120 vac and also the plastic shield was cumbersome to use. Otherwise very happy with this product.

Received in good condition. Used it for just over a month ( received it August 3 and it broke September 8 ). Amazon says can't return it, over the 30 day return period. Have contacted General International and waiting to hear back. The chuck stops as soon as it touches material while the belts are the correct tension and the return spring for the press has snapped, so the press doesn't return automatically as it should. ********UPDATE ---- Amazon did end up letting me return item and gave me a full refund.
