African Stripes: a pattern set for bead crochet ropes

I really love these designs.....my only problem is in some of the directions, everything is there except crochet instructions. You need to use a very thin thread/cord/etc, with a very small crochet hook. It would have been nice to see illustrations and written instructions regarding how to begin the crochet process. I have been crocheting for years, using all sizes of hooks; but working with these small beads, thin thread and small hook was a real challenge, not to mention trying to change the number of beads for each round. I am working on an alternative method to create the same designs.

The patterns are very creative and you can make a variety of projects by varying them.

Instructions and diagrams were not clear and/or specific enough.

This is a pattern book for this necklace on the cover.

It's my own fault for not checking the page total for this book, but I loved the cover and the three previous reviews sold me. The book arrived and it is 30 pages. That's it, and there are very few inspiration photographs (3). The book contains 2 projects and was quite expensive. Yes, I like the 2 projects that are included and will make them, but I would NOT recommend spending 20.00 for this title.

Beautiful book with lots of great ideas.. I am new to beaded crochet can't wait to try it.The colors used are fantastic.

These patterns are beautiful. I especially like their flexibility. You can design the length you want by combining your favorite segments.

Love to crochet. Love you book becaause you have a lot of different patterns for me to do. Hope you write again!

I like the book very much but I am slightly disappointed that there is actually only the instructions for two long rope necklaces. While I see that the various patterns included in the ropes, pictured on the cover, can be used individually etc. this was not quite what I expected. My fault, probably.

Sometimes hard to follow examples.

I was disappointed with this book. I don't feel it was well written and as a beginner to cording with beads, I am still lost as to how to put these cords together. I shouldn't have to youtube directions to figure out what a book that I bought is trying to teach me. I wouldn't recommend this book unless you fancy one of the specific patterns. Otherwise I suggest finding a free video to teach you how to make beaded cords and then find a free pattern or create your own.
