Fun book for cat lovers and dog lovers alike!
I’m not a fan of cats, but that didn’t matter because this book is very funny and just really enjoyable. The humor is smart and witty. Kids will love it. I also admire the illustrating - so fun and colorful. Highly recommend.

Great for Dogman fans
My third grader is obsessed with reading. He went through the captain underpants and dog man series very quickly and I was looking for some thing similar that he would enjoy. This one hits the mark and he has already asked me for the rest of the books in the series

Crisis in The Kitty Litter Universe!
Another fun outing of the feline caped crusader that will fly off my classroom shelf! Gallagher pays homage to comic book multiverses in this volume with an elastic wit and funky designs. Kids will adore this series.

Great graphic novel.
Purchased for my granddaughter who has a little difficulty with reading. She loved this book and being in graphic novel format helped her read it much easier. Will continue to follow this series as more are published.

Spoiler-free: A brilliant and very fun graphic novel that can be read as a standalone
This is such a brilliant and fun graphic novel which is the second in the Max Meow series but can be read as a standalone. On the edge of the city of Kittyopolis, a strange giant penguin breaks into a fireworks factory. Superhero the Cat Crusader is on the case though and manages to stop it. But when something happens the penguin gets away, and soon there are bigger problems in Kittyopolis with what seems to be a copycat superhero of the Cat Crusader causing trouble. The book is filled with glossy pages of some brilliant illustrations and text.I’ve not read the first book in the series but a clever prologue explains how Max Meow and his friend Mindy managed to get superpowers. The first chapter then shows what is happening with the giant penguin. I love this story, it’s fun from the start and funny with the illustrations being just like a comic book. As the story develops we find out more about the new villainous superhero called the Catinator and I love the explanation of how the Catinator and Iron Cat appear in Max’s world. The plot is brilliant and quite silly but I do love how there’s an important message in the story with Mindy’s lack of confidence at the start and how she learns something important through the tale. The story is funny throughout with many moments that made me laugh out loud. The book has some funny jokes in the story and or references to things that adults will ‘get’ and enjoy too. The illustrations throughout the story are also brilliant and colourful. I just love how fun and brilliant they are with each chapter having its own image on the front which is just like the start of a comic book. The story builds up to a brilliant ending, and I love some of the twists like with Big Boss and Reggie. At the end of the book there is a how to draw Mindy section and an added fun puzzle of searching for certain donuts in the book which I like as it gives kids something extra to do when they’ve finished reading this. Overall a brilliant comic style graphic novel and one that’s made me keen to read the rest of the books in the series!

Donuts and Danger!
Graphic novels are a great way of getting kids interested in reading and this one is excellent. Max is a cat, but not just any cat, he is the Cat Crusader. He has super powers that he gained after eating a bit of meatball from space. Helped by his friend, Mindy, who also now has super powers, they fight the bad guys but it's not always easy, so lot's of fun ensues.Bright and colourful graphics grab yoour attention and the story is entertaining and educational. From robot penguins to Elvis Purrsley (yes!) there are vivid characters coming and going throughout the pages with plenty to keep you reading. The big plus is that this book has lots of science facts and stories embedded into the storyline so you're learning as you read. Each chapter ends like a 1970's kids tv show - "can Max catch the crooks? Can max defeat Xam? Why did they need the shovels? All will be revealed in the next chapter....."It's all good fun and the kids love it.
