These are heavy duty! I really like them more than the ones I got from wallyworld. Snug fit in and out but you know you won't accidentally pull one out grabbing a rod out with a fish on.

Very functional and sturdy rod holders! But they do not accommodate smaller rods. Be aware that if your rod handle isn’t long enough to reach the bottom they will fall out. I place a Velcro strap or zip tie near the bottom to support the bottom of the rod (when using shorter rods) and it fixes the problem.

I bought two of these with the intention of mounting them to my kayaks. First of all these rod holders are of a high quality plastic, it is very thick and sturdy so there is no real need to worry about them being too flimsy. Second of all this is essentially two piece set one is the base mounting part and the other is the actual rod holder, so you can easily remove the rod holder part for trasportation/ when you don't want to utilize it. The rod holder can be rotated in any direction to accomodate which way you want it positioned in relation to the side of the boat you're on, it can also be rotated verically for various angles you might want your rod at. I would not recommend using it as a lazy way to fish just because in the heat of the moment its much easier to have the rod in hand than to try and pull it out, but for those instances when you need to paddle/move and getting in and out of the water it is essential and much better than trying to figure a way to put your rod in the kayak with you while you do so.

This is possibly the best deal on a Scotty rod holder that you’re going to find. I’ve got 3 of them on my boat and love them, looking at adding a couple more actually. They lock in at about any angle and in any direction imaginable, and they are rock solid even when a large fish takes the bait. Hardware was not included, so be prepared to go spend just a little money on some good stainless hardware from your local hardware store. Great buy!

I ordered two of these rod holders with the mount, received one with and one without a mount. Called customer service, a human answered and in less than 5 minutes they are sending me the missing base. I bought these specifically, because they are affordable, and have more substantial locking lugs. The ones they are replacing, use a triangular star pattern, and both of mine have stripped out when using in conjunction with downriggers at 100 ft trolling at 2.5 mph. Seems Scotty is the only one that doesn’t use the weaker locking lugs, so I am hoping these can handle the strain better than the cannon’s and Berkeley’s. Of course, I could go with metal holders, but these are more affordable and easier to get your rod out of.

Have converted all my rod holders to Scotty and I have put the larger Scotty's that can take overhead reels like a Shimano tld 25 near the driver's seat and Scotty power lock at the rear of the boat. Worked perfectly on fishing for bonito and bagged out.

Super quality. Better than more expensive holders. No mounting screws but that can be found at any hardware store. Strong enough to troll deep lures on the kayak.
