Holds tightly. I have not tried cheaper ones but I bought one black and one blue. Both fit perfectly and feel like good quality material. If you’re going to spend hundreds for an iPad doesn’t make sense to cheap out on a cover. It’s not made to protect against a semi high fall. More just to keep it from getting scratched up. It folds nicely to hold it up but not at a 45 degree just about 3 inches to prop up on lap.
