I use this a motorcycle helmet lock. I loop it through my facemask and strap it to my passenger peg. Works great! Its not going to prevent anyone with a small bolt cutter but will definitely stop someone with bare hands trying to snatch my Helmet. As for its main purpose for a gun lock my guess is it would definitely do the job. Not the highest quality but will get it done!

Let's be real. Almost no one uses these things, but all handguns that are sold by dealers...even used ones...are required by law to have a lock with them. These are great for that. They're inexpensive. They do work. They're secure. Perfect for staying in compliance with the law.

Works great for my application. Needed a way to lock the pins on my adjustable hitch and this fit the bill nicely. Had to ever so slightly enlarge the holes in the pins but then it worked perfect. Would have been a little better without the plastic coating on the cable as it want to shred during install and removal. Other than that it's very nice and easy to lock and unlock too.

I use this as one of 3 levels of locks on my revolvers and they work well. keys are a little tough to turn to unlock but that is better than the opposite problem. I would bet money these locks are easy to pick as well if someone really want to, this is why I don't rely on just one lock per gun I use three.

I have problems with people opening my chain link fence gate and not closing it....thus my 2 dogs get out without my knowledge. I have used combination or let locks that go thru the raisable latch but someone can still lift the ground bar and push the gate open. I had used a long bike lock cable in the past but am trying this short cable lock and it looks like a good solution. Yes, as others have said the keys for this lock are tiny but for my purpose that should not matter. I like that it's short enough that even if the ground bar is pulled up the gate can't be opened far enough for the dogs to get out.

Honestly haven't really used this to lock up my rifle much, but it was a great value and I needed one to purchase a used rifle that didn't have one included (damn California laws). My rifle is in my gun safe with others, but didn't want to go thru the hassle of proving I had a safe at home so just brought this in with a receipt and was good to go! Seems decent quality (equal to most other locks that come standard from factory). For the price, no complaints. Just a basic cheap lock that hits the standard for CA DOJ approval.

I almost didn't buy this because of negative reviews concerning the operation of the lock. So I was stunned when I received mine and found that the lock was so easy to use. It only requires a quarter turn to lock or unlock. Maybe people are trying to force it into a half turn. Someone posted that they used it to secure their French doors. It was too short for my French doors, which are the widest available. But I kept it to use around the knobs on my double front doors. Excellent product. Edit: Now that I have had this lock for a couple of weeks, I think I have figured out why people are having problems. You MUST make sure the end of the cable is COMPLETELY pushed in all the way before you try to turn the key. If the key is hard to turn, you haven't pushed the cable in all the way.

"California DOJ-Approved"...LOL!It's a gun lock with a cheap key, just like all the others of it's type.Good against journeying kids if you need to leave your gun laying around unloaded and can't afford a proper safe. Also good for transportation.Bad against any time of day or night when you might need a loaded weapon to protect yourself.
