It's a beautiful magnetic knife block that holds all of my Rada knives minus the potato peeler. It's fantastic having them in a block instead of the drawer making them much more accessible for me to use. Visibility makes for easy placement and removing the exact knife needed. It has a nice weight to it making it stable to use without fear of it falling over. I love the fact that the knives are covered so that you can't get cut by them accidentally when grabbing one. The first one received was cracked in the corner and I received a replacement lickety split and I returned the first one within a few days of receiving the replacement so that I'm not charged for the second one. It still doesn't show as being returned to UPS but I'll give it a few more days. It does have a slot in the back as I've shown in the photos but it won't hold any kind of large cookbook but will hold something back there if you can think of something.

This beautiful knife rack is a true space saver in the kitchen. The footprint is sleek and takes up much less counter space than a traditional boxy knife block. I have knives comfortably placed on both sides of the holder and the magnetic siding keeps them securely in place. It seems the magnet to hold the knives in place runs the entire span of the wood because the knives don't shift around while in the holder, no matter how small they are. (I had a similar unit like this in the past and it was obvious it had a very small magnetic strip because the knives in the holder would turn sideways if not placed in the holder just right or if the knives were too short to actually hit the magnetic strip). Because of the acrylic siding, it is easy to see the size of the knife you are grabbing, unlike a traditional knife block where you have to either memorize what knife you have in which slot or pull knives out one at a time until you find the knife you are looking for - so annoying. I went a little different on the placement and have the shelf facing my workspace so I can store and easily access my kitchen scissors. The quality of this knife block is exceptional and it is a stunning addition to my kitchen.

I saw a few reviews with pics saying that they got theirs with a crack in the plexiglass, so I was understandably a little concerned about how mine would show up. When I got it Monday, I wasted no time opening and inspecting. Considering how snug the fit was in the box, I could see how the cracks could form if you weren't careful pulling it out (NOT saying that other folks weren't careful). If I had simply gripped the item, it could've easily cracked or shattered. All that said, mine did not come out of the box with any kind of blemish or deformity. It looks good! And this bad boy holds my blades that don't otherwise have a home in my kitchen, and it gives me that peace of mind knowing that the magnet with the plexiglass covering will keep my kids from hurting themselves on the blades themselves. Seriously, I have a carving fork that is hovering because of the magnets. It doesn't fit in the plexiglass, but the magnets are still holding it in place. This piece definitely lives up to the expectations I had for it! UPDATE: So, it's been almost 2 months since I bought it. Still enjoying that my kids can't hurt themselves and that there's no cracks in the glass. I have noticed that with a little wear, the knives are removing the stain. As long as that doesn't become an issue later, it should be fine...

I just got this today. I have a Henckel block but it's full. These are all newer than those too. For reference the knives in the front are a a Global 7" fluted cook's knife and 3" pairing knife and the MAC knife in between them is an 8" chef knife. I got all of them on Amazon and they've been great. The magnets are decent - but all the knives I have it on it are on the light side - these aren't heavy German style knives. The stand has a little bit of weight to it, I'm not worried about it falling over. I opted for this one specifically because of the safety shield on it to help with falling knives (too bad I can't get one for my brokerage account *rimshot*) I unpacked and set it up while my wife was on the phone and she didn't like where I put it so I've already picked it up and moved it to the other side of the kitchen with all the knives in it and didn't get any extra scars. We live in an apartment and kitchen space is very much at a premium. So far the only drawbacks are the screws that hold the face plates on are noticeably cheap garbage if you look at them closely (but they're enough to hold it on so whatever) and also if you have bigger knives they're not going to fit well - the handle sticking up from the back side is from an 11" Global chef's knife (it's 16" long with the handle). It's sitting at an angle like that because it would stick way out of the top otherwise and you have to be careful not to have the blade sticking out the side between the screws on the side.

Beautiful! Love it. Just like pic. Hold knives as it should. I have a young child and I like the glass being there. I can run a soapy cloth thru it for cleaning.

The piece I received is beautiful; no problems with the construction or cracks/breakage. I purchased this particular style (and I looked at so many styles for a long time before purchasing one) so I could easily see which knife I was trying to access as many of my handles all look the same and this allows you to see the blade, and because there was an acrylic shield over the knives rather than just the magnets to hold them on the board. The weight feels substantial to me and I don't believe it will tip over easily. I do think the cleaning might be problematic; it doesn't look like the shield is easily removable, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase!

It looks sleek and nice but the craftsmanship is poor. The first thing i did was take the plastic shielding off to wash the factory residue off, which is one of the availabilities advertised. Before I started I noticed a few hairline cracks in the wood and some in the plastic as well. The drill holes were never cut or sanded down nor was the bottom area where the cutting board goes. Lastly the plastic sides could also be sanded down or reamed, they are some rough sides that needed a bit of work from myself to keep them from scratching skin. But out of everything wrong, this piece does it's job well and looks good while doing it. I have a nice 8 piece knife set that I'm finally able to display all of the knives now and takes up virtually minimal space. After everything, I would hesitantly recommend and/or buy this again.

I was pleasantly surprised when I unboxed this item. The quality is excellent! I really like the dual capacity that allows the item to hold knives on both sides. I have received several compliments from friends who say it adds a touch of class to my kitchen!
