Hydrofarm CK64001 Humidity Dome

This part is just a replacement for the original one that came with this germination kit I have. It's not heavy duty plastic that you can abuse without breaking it very quickly, but just a basic part to hold in heat so your seeds will germinate. It will last provided you take care of it.

It was sturdy enough for my uses. Pop in vents were easy to install. Just perfect for my seedling tray with sturdiness for an excellent fit. Good value for the money.

Strong enough, however, it's easy to crack taking off and because it's so cheap there should be two of them but it does the job well.

The photos for this product show a TALL dome. Read the fine print -- this is the standard low-profile dome that comes with your standard seed starter tray. I have dozens of these low-profile domes already -- one comes with every seed starter kit. What none of those kits supply are the TALLER domes that you need 2 weeks after you sow, when the sprouts start hitting the top of the dome! I came here to buy taller domes for my trays but was shipped the standard low-profile domes, and now I see that the photo doesn't match the specs. Okay, so maybe I should have read more carefully and not trusted the photo, so why one star? Because, for the standard shallow dome, the price of these is quite high. After all, these are just one very thin piece of vacuum-formed plastic. Why so expensive? At Home Depot, you can get one of these domes, a tray, and 36-72 peat plugs for about five bucks more than this dome costs here.

The one in the photo isn't the product you will receive. It's the one with a much shorter height. Guess I should have read the description a bit more closely. 3 stars for wrong product image, although if this was the product I wanted it would be 5.

The domes capture a certain amount of moisture depending on how you regulate the vents. I would highly recommend this product.

Much thicker and more durable than a Jiffy brand dome.

My seedlings are doing well and no mould. Great for starting plants because it is vented. Would buy again when I can't find this one.

The dome really works to keep your delicate cuttings from drying out. Great choice! It tends to do the job well/

It's sufficient, but handle with care. These are a tad flimsy. I see they've changed the picture, as the one they used for when I bought it was of a taller dome. I was disappointed to say the least. Again, it's usable.

Specs were not as originaly stated as being 12" high. These are still not correct in latest description.Does anyone check these ads? Disapointed.
