Love it so far.
Got this a day early Yay!!! The butter container was a little hard to open for me but I have a trusty screwdriver that works just fine and I love that when I close it, it will seal air tight. The product inside is random shaped lumps. The lumps are various sizes. It is glandular looking and I am not sure where this hard thing comes from I can pinch it apart with my weak fingers. My plain fingernail easily scores it. I suppose if it was summer and it had melted and re hardened it would be a different story. But even then I am certain that a heated spoon could easily scoop this out. In fact I am a bit disappointed that it is not harder as I anticipated having to dilute it quite a bit. It is softer than candle wax, maybe a little bit harder than bees wax but not much. Merely touching it in this cold cold weather it has a waxy lotion bar feel. It starts to melt in my hands easily I could use a lump AS a lotion bar if I want a thin layer. Not sure what this high melt point is all about in the other reviews. Scent: Yes, I has one lol. There is a distinct recognizable scent. But only if I put it under my nose. From one foot away...nothing. It smells EXACTLY LIKE the lumber section in the hardware store...cut cured wood. Not nasty at all. I bet a man could use it straight if he is into a woody scent and no one would say a peep. To me this is an advantage. Many expensive perfumes have a woody undertone. This would be awesome with spicy oils added. So to preview the scent just go stand in the lumber section at the hardware store and start thinking of layers to complement that. Does it work or not? On all of the benefits for the skin that are mentioned? That remains to be seen. I plan to use this to make two versions of dense butters. One smelly one for sleeping alone with more intense ingredients. One with a more diluted, fragrant and girly scent for day and I may just use small lumps to try out different oils and see what happens...a pound would be a lot to waste on a bad combination but a lump...what the hay why not. So far so good but I need to see how it works on my skin before I decide if I will buy more.

Best butter I have tried for dry skin and eczema
This butter arrived very quickly with Prime and came in a plastic container that was inside a plastic bag - no leaks or damage to the container. This butter is in chunks, which are dry to the touch and not easy to melt by rubbing it on the skin like some other softer kinds of butter are. I make my own body butter because both myself and my son suffer from Eczema and dry, sensitive skin and we can't have the strong smells around us. Some reviewers mentioned this butter being dry and yes, it is dry to the touch and some crumbles are in with the chunks but if you put this in a glass jar or container in a pot of water on the stove or a double broiler you can melt the butter safely into a liquid. When I make body butter instead of melting the Kokum I put everything in a blender and puree it, then pour the liquid into glass mason jars to store it and place the jars in the fridge for a few minutes so the butter can harden up before taking it and leaving it out to use. I normally mix 1/2 c Kokum, 1/2 c Mango butter, 1/2 c Coconut oil and 1 tbsp of Vegetable Glycerin with 1 tbsp Avocado oil to make a soft but creamy butter that stays the consistency of a thick cream at room temperature (Spring and Summer in a dry climate). The Kokum blends well and comes out into a smooth cream in the blender when I mix it, even with coconut oil and glycerin alone. I'm still experimenting with other types of butter and oils to make the perfect combination for our skin needs but do believe that this butter is amazing and really helped soothe and moisturize our dry skin. I use this mixture daily in place of lotion after a shower and when I was my hands. It doesn't come out greasy and absorbs quickly. I was also reading about adding a little corn starch to the butter mix so that it won't be greasy, but haven't tried that mixture out yet to see how it works. Overall I am impressed and love this butter. I will be reordering again to make another round of body butter, this time with Mango butter and GrapeSeed oil to see how moisturizing that will become. Everyone's needs are different and what works for one might not work for another, so we all have to experiment with our own creations and mixtures to find which one works best for us. I personally like this butter more than Shae and Cocoa butter. I've attached a photo to my review so you can see how creamy this mixture is after putting in the blender on high speed for just a couple minutes.

Goodbye shea, HELLO KOKUM BUTTER!!
So i was looking for a rich moisturizing butter that wouldn't clog my pores and well, ladies and gents, this kokum butter (mixed with mango butter) has been the answer to all my prayers. So to give you some background, Ive recently given up on shea butter despite all of the "benefits" people claim it has for very good reason. Good luck trying to change my view bc im convinced shea butter is all hype right now..its the new coconut oil for alot of folks but personally it did NOT live up to my expectations. ..at all. Trying to find decent grade a shea butter is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. IF it is so good then why do i and a slew of other people have such a hard time finding good sellers that have consistently good shea? Its always a hit or miss with shea butter and i was tired of taking chances and essentially wasting my money all the time, not to mention it RUINED my skin!! I assume lots of african sellers cut their shea with cheaper oils and some admit to not getting their shea tested and certified organic by standard protocol..its literally unregulated product from a third world country. Shea butter did not absorb into my skin..it was literally like slathering myself in canola oil. It wouldn't absorb but rubbed off onto everything and even ruined some silk robes of mine. I would wake up with dryer skin than i went to sleep with and as if that wasnt bad enough ,it broke my face out in terrible acne- i looked like a teenager going through puberty- AND IT WAS SO BAD i now have acne scars at 30 for the first time in my life!!!! They say shea butter is not a comedogenic but literally everytime i buy it (from all sorts of sellers at that) it breaks me out and sits on my skin like a layer of grease so [in my maury voice] THAT IS A LIE! This kokum butter mixed with mango butter has literally been my saving grace! It actually absorbs into the skin within a few minutes and it actually moisturizes! My skin did not feel dry after applying it at all! The kokum butter does NOT leave grease stains on my clothes and furniture! !!!! And the packaging was wonderful too, it came in a sealed plastic tub, which was sealed in a plastic wrap and placed in a box. I feel like shouting it from the rooftops because this stuff is amazing on SOOO many levels. Im going to purchase 2 more lbs next week because its just that darn good!!! I urge anyone reading these comments to buy some asap- your skin will thank you!

I love this butter!
I got this butter today and immediately went to work with it. Actually, first I weighed it 17.5 oz so with the plastic container that it came in, it was right on the money in terms of weight. I decided that my project would be lotion bars. Since this butter has a higher melting point, I wanted to give this a try since I carry lotion bars in my purse and in my work bag which inevitably winds up under the heater in my car. Well once i got over my disappointment that there was so many little shavings in the container, (yes there where big chunks too, but i find scooping out a lot of shavings is messy), I put this and the beeswax in first and when that was about 3/4 melted I added in the other ingredients. What popped out of the molds this evening was fantastic! It had a wonderful feel to it and while it still has to undergo the heater test, I can tell right away that it's going to be able to withstand more heat than any other butters I've tried so far. Less of the product melted off the bar, (great for people who just want a touch of lotion), it soaked right into the skin and left it silky smooth. I'm already planning on ordering a bigger size because I'm going to have to include this in all my DIY recipes. The bottom line.... If you want to try something new or if you're looking to firm up any recipes or make them more resistant to heat... Buy this butter. Update... A year later.... I now put this butter in everything I make. I typically do have to decrease the amount used as opposed to Shea butter, or add some extra coconut oil instead, but now that I've figured out how to tweak my recipes...... I am able to make the best, NON GREASY, Body butter!!! It has a wonderful texture and no odor to speak of. I won't make any products without this kokum butter.

Kokum Butter
The price is similar to what you find online with free shipping from Amazon it makes it better. It comes in clumps but not as hard. I have not gotten to use it yet but plan to during the summer since it is supposed to be good for the soles of the feet. Want my foot bottoms to look good in my sandals! Will have to update when I use it, but the packaging was good. Prefer when the butters come as butters because then all the space in the container is filled up, so you know you are getting your moneys worth. Harder when there is gaps of space. It would be nice if they push it down. LOL.
