Excellent flavor, French onion soup is back on the menu
Okay, this stuff is amazing. I admit I haven't tasted meat in years, but this stuff tastes so much like beef broth, I can't identify a difference from what I recall as the real thing. My wife had a yen for French onion soup, which was a favorite in her family and is one of those comfort food things in the winter, so I went searching for a beef broth substitute and checked the reviews. I settled on the Orrington Farms Broth Base and I am very happy I did. It is excellent and my wife concurs. We'll wait a night and then have the soup again as a leftover. Now some hopefully useful information:Easy to prepare--YesTastes good in small or large batches--Yes, have done a single cup of water and for the soup I did six cups of water and no differenceStores well--Yes, it's a powder and will last for years and takes up much less room than liquid brothsNegative--This has a lot of salt to my taste (though not so much that I find it unpalatable). To be fair, my wife says it didn't taste too salty for her. I don't add any salt to most of my cooking, so I am sensitive to it, but this seemed high. I would love it if they lowered that salt level by 25%.Negative--The aroma is a little odd. Sort of like meat that is a little "off". I attribute that to the yeast extract. Again not so bad that I dislike the broth. I still give it five stars.Other note--You can really taste the onion in this broth (before I added my own onions)

Best broth add-in - even for meat eaters
These are the only broth add-ins I'll buy. My meat-eating husband has no problem using the beef or chicken vegan flavor in his savory meat dishes. Even the ham flavoring doesn't taste "fake" like a lot of smoky vegan substitutes can. The powder form is easy to measure and the containers last quite a while. I love this brand!

This is awesome flavoring
Have always used the Orrington Farms flavoring in chicken, beef and ham. Loved it. Then we went vegan. Missed the extra flavoring for our meals. Delighted to find available in Vegan. We use this in everything requiring beef (including beef gravy. Have already went through numerous containers in beef (one of our stables). The same is also true of the Ham (so good in bean soup) and Chicken. Same great taste. We don't used much of the vegetable flavoring, but that is due to the liquid vegetable broth available. Kind of expensive for the small jar, but well worth it. Cannot find these in Vegan at stores.

Where’s the beef? It’s not in this vegan based product, but you might swear it’s in there somewhere based on the taste.
After reading the reviews, I wanted to give it a try. Amazon just dropped off my order and the first thing I did was open the jar and put 2 tsp into a cup of cold, tap water. Stirred until all powder was dissolved. Microwaved for 80 seconds just to try it. Oh the smell. What a wonderful aroma! And the taste is amazing. I had to go pretty much vegan for health reasons and this broth base has just become my new go to for beef flavoring. I liked the one review that stated they use it to flavor their veggie crumbles for a more beefy taco meat flavor. 5 stars from a former meat and cheese lover! Well, I still love meat and cheese, it just doesn’t love me back in terms of cholesterol levels.

Fabulous!!
As a vegan/plant-based cook, it's been difficult finding broths that work like beef and chicken, even ham, for soups, beans, etc. Sometimes "veggie broth" just doesn't work well. Discovering these broth-powders has been a game changer. My vegan Minestrone has grown leaps and bounds with this vegan "beef" broth. My veggie soup is amazing with the "chicken" broth, and my Pinto Bean Soup is awesome with the "ham" flavor. Nobody knows there's no meat flavoring in any of my soups or dishes. Highly, highly recommended and well worth the $$. I buy the value packs now-a-days. I never want to run out.

very tasty
This is a really good base for vegan/vegetarian foods. This base defiantly has that meaty flavor to it . We have both meat eaters and vegetarians in the house and made jackfruit "carne guisa" which is just stewed "beef" over rice and everyone loved it with this added seasoning. We do suggest marinating in this base for a day whatever meat substitute you are using cause it will make the flavor stand out more. It comes as a powder that you mix with boiling water and then can use to season your food. We have only found this at whole foods so far and it was like maybe a dollar more so this price is better!

Yummmmy and savory
It really is an easy way to add that savory taste you can sometimes miss or have trouble getting to with vegan food. You’ll probably still want to doctor it a bit to make it really taste really sassy, but it’s good, adds more than just vegetable broth or boullion. It reminds me of the flavor of impossible meat which I’m a fan of. So savory.
