Ivan is an easy-going gorilla. Living at the Exit 8 Big Top Mall and Video Arcade, he has grown accustomed to humans watching him through the glass walls of his domain. He rarely misses his life in the jungle. Mostly, he thinks about art. Then he meets Ruby, a baby elephant taken from her family, and she makes Ivan see their home--and his own art--through new eyes. When Ruby arrives, change comes with her, and it's up to Ivan to make it a change for the better. Continuing the story of these friends in The One and Only Bob, Bob sets out on a dangerous journey in search of his long-lost sister with the help of Ivan and Ruby. As a hurricane approaches and time is running out, Bob finds courage he never knew he had and learns the true meaning of friendship and family. In the tradition of timeless stories like Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little , Katherine Applegate blends humor and poignancy to create an unforgettable story of friendship, art, family, and hope. The One and Only Ivan and The One and Only Bob feature first-person narrative; author's use of literary devices (personification, imagery); and story elements (plot, character development, perspective). These acclaimed middle grade novels are an excellent choice for tween readers in grades 5 to 8, for independent reading, homeschooling, and sharing in the classroom. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Dimensions | 14.73 x 6.6 x 20.83 cm | | Grade Level | 3 - 7 | | Isbn 10 | 0063029588 | | Isbn 13 | 978-0063029583 | | Item Weight | 930 g | | Language | English | | Print Length | 640 pages | | Publication Date | 15 September 2020 | | Publisher | HarperCollins | | Reading Age | 8 - 12 years | ## Images ![Ivan & Friends 2-Book Collection: The One and Only Ivan and the One and Only Bob - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/7162GDtVjfL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Purchased 2 sets *by on Reviewed in the United States 1 January 2025* These were gifts for two young cousins hoping to foster young readers. They won't live close to one another but when they facetime they can discuss the books and will have the shared experience. Be a rebel buy books. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy reading for 8 year old grandson. *by on Reviewed in the United States 25 March 2024* Funny and entertaining. Held the interest of 8 year old grandson. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent story *by on Reviewed in the United States 10 April 2021* Alright, it's a kids book about a gorilla who throws poop at people. This still may be the best book I've read in years. I cried, I laughed, I was furious, I was excited, and I was moved. All of this from a book about a gorilla. My 8 year old son and I have been reading it as our bedtime book for about two weeks. We were both completely into this story. For him it probably helped that the gorilla shared his name. Anyway, I highly recommend it for any of you with kids or anyone who just loves a good animal story. It does contain some sad moments and death of a main character as well as the mentioned death of a couple side characters. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/253622478-ivan-and-friends-2-book-collection-the-one-and-only](https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/253622478-ivan-and-friends-2-book-collection-the-one-and-only) --- *Product available on Desertcart Panama* *Store origin: PA* *Last updated: 2026-10-22*
