The #1 New York Times Bestseller that shows why slowing down is the key to getting ahead 'Choose the focused inner stillness that Ryan champions' - Mark Manson #1 Bestselling author The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck 'Some authors give advice. Ryan Holiday distills wisdom. This book is a must read.' Cal Newport, New York Times bestselling author, Digital Minimalism 'A life-changing idea: that in order to move forward, we must learn to be still.' - Sophia Amoruso, cofounder and CEO, Girlboss Throughout history, there has been one quality that great leaders, makers, artists and fighters have shared. The Zen Buddhists described it as inner peace, the Stoics called it a taraxia and Ryan Holiday calls it stillness: the ability to be steady, focused and calm in a constantly busy world. Drawing on a wide range of history's greatest thinkers, Holiday shows us how crucial stillness is, and how it can be cultivated in our own lives today. Just as Winston Churchill, Oprah Winfrey and baseball player Sadaharu Oh have done, we can all benefit from stillness to feed into our greater ambitions - whether building a business or simply finding happiness, peace and self-direction. Stillness is the key to the self-mastery, discipline and focus necessary to succeed in this competitive, noisy world. Review: Amazing read - This is your sign to buy this book. I just wanted the book to end
I wanted this book to end so badly. Stillness Is the Key is a painfully generic book. Every 40โ50 pages, thereโs maybe one or two lines that genuinely hit you and make you pause. Unfortunately, the rest is filled with advice weโve all heard countless times before: slow down, be present, find balance, avoid distractions. Good advice, sureโbut nothing particularly deep, practical, or transformative. My biggest issue was Ryan Holidayโs constant reliance on historical references. It often felt as if he had personally lived alongside these figures and was narrating their inner emotional worlds with absolute certainty. One example after another, another famous name, another anecdote. It became exhausting. At some point, the structure started feeling repetitive: โThis historical figure found peace through this habit.โ โThat famous person dealt with stress this way.โ โSomeone else chopped wood and found clarity.โ The endless parade of names and references distracted from the message rather than strengthening it. I knew many of the people he mentioned, but that wasnโt the problem. The problem was that the book leaned too heavily on borrowed stories instead of offering fresh insight. It kept circling around the same basic ideas without digging deeper or providing anything truly sustainable or actionable beyond what most self-help books already repeat. There are a few memorable sentences worth highlighting, but for me, they werenโt enough to justify an entire book. Verdict: If youโve never read books on mindfulness, Stoicism, or intentional living, this might resonate with you. But if youโve spent any time in the self-improvement space, youโll likely find yourself waiting for it to say something newโand it rarely does.

Perfect completion of the "trilogy"
Thought it would be a simple add up to the two previous books, but hey, it's another masterpiece. Get Ego, Obstacle and this one, really read it and understand it. Apply it. Watch your life change. Thank you MR Holiday, my life will never be the same again.
