Worked out fine

Perfect replacement parts for my wayne 1/2 hp transfer pump. Recommend watching a short video on u tube first as parts come with no instructions. After watching video replacing parts was pretty strait forward and not difficult. Pump is pumping as it did when i first bought it. Very pleased.

I took a chance on this that it would be what I needed for the (apparently) identical pump under the Superior brand name, because I would not find a kit sold elsewhere specifically for that one, and I needed it quickly. Well, it seems like a good kit, but the instructions to replace the parts were woefully bad. I have to watch Youtube videos to figure it out. Bottom line: this kit may be perfect for Wayne pumps (I don't know for sure, or if maybe it was a design flaw), but the impeller does NOT fit the drive shaft for the Superior. The Superior has a metal receiver that is set into the plastic at the back of the impeller, and the bottom is relatively flush with the rest of the impeller rear surface - the outer surface of the receiver is flat plastic. The Wayne impeller is just a plastic receiver with a domed plastic front, and the shaft of the receiver extends out beyond the back face of the impeller. (Apologies if that does not make sense, I am not a technical pump guy) Bottom line is, I tried to sand off the extra length, but the threaded receiver wasn't long enough inside for the drive shaft. I tried Dremel'ing it deeper and re-threading it, but no good there either. Bottom line: while I am assuming the Wayne kit is good for a Wayne pump, it did not fit a Superior pump of the same design. I cannot be sure it was not a design flaw in the impeller in this kit, but either way, as a PSA, if you try to order this like I did, to repair a similar-looking cast iron 0.5hp transfer pump, it won't work with Superior, and I am not sure about Drummond or the other similar brands.

Not only were the pictured seal components in the kit, but they included a new "back cap" too. And it turns out that is what I needed: after replacing the seal, the pump was still leaking, so I looked more closely, and my back cap was cracked, probably freeze damage. So they sent more than they promised, and it was just what I needed!

The parts were all the right ones and fit well in the pump. I wish there were some detailed instructions included. The installation tutorial by Wayne on YouTube is really quite awful. Several important steps were not even shown or explained on it. Either way the thing is pumping hard like when it was new. These pumps have become way to expensive to replace. They are simple and easy to work on.

I purchased this to try to rebuild a harbor freight pump that looks almost exactly the same as the Wayne model this is intended for. I knew it probably would not fit but I figured I would try any way. Lesson learned. It did not come close to fitting. My bad. It does not say it would fit that model any where in the description and I already opened it so I did not feel right returning it but wanted to let others know so they do not take the same gamble I took. I think I might replace the HF pump with a Wayne model though because I know I can get a rebuild kit where as the HF one I cannot. That said the parts look to be good quality so I rated 5 stars.

All parts fit perfect! Except when assembled motor to pump had 1/16" gap between housings. Snugged up the four bolts; primed pump and ran about 20 secs, it will leak around large housing "0" ring. Now snugged bolts again because they are now loose. Repeated this procedure about three times until bolts tight and the space closed. If try to tighten bolts all the way at start, I believe the motor would not turn and you could damage motor. No leaks, motor runs smooth and pumps about 6GPM. Be sure always to prime!! Like new for $17. Wayne has nice 5 min. video on how to repair pump.

The kit was complete with all the necessary parts and the repair was straight forward.
